My daughter has a MS Teams meeting this afternoon, but can't download Teams to her laptop. Whenever she tries it defaults to her school MS account, however she left school in 2021 and cannot access the old email.
She can access Teams through the web-based version, but she doesn't know whether, when she is emailed the Join Meeting link, it will open in the web version or whether it will look for the app. The meeting is at 13.30 and she's starting to panic. Any help is gratefully accepted. 🙂

The link will give you three options to pick from:

Download Teams
Continue in this browser
Open Teams.

Pick the middle one 🙂

The link in the email will open in a browser. She will then have the choice to continue in the browser or open the app - read what it says in the browser carefully. She can try the link now - she doesn't have to wait until 1:30. Good luck.

As above.
Try the link now. If successful it'll open the meeting and say someone will let her in soon. They won't because the meeting hasn't started. Just repeat the process at 1327.

I know this because I was a week early for a meeting.

can probably remove the account
click start, type credential manager and go into the app
look for the teams stored credentials and remove

I had lots of similar (but not account related) issues with something similar on a MacBook a while ago. The fix was to uninstall and reinstall Teams as well as deleting lots of related files in the computer’s ‘library’ - I can’t currently find the link for this (sorry) but it’s likely out there. The quickest way might be to use another device if you can with a fresh install or web based meet.

As above, paste into a browser and run through there. You can try it now, it will connect but just put you in the lobby/waiting room till the meeting starts.

Thanks for your help all, I'll let you know how it goes at 13.31! It appears that she gets sent a meeting id and a passcode, with the option in the email to "Join on the Web". She's going to use that option. Still annoying that we can't seem to get MS to change the default from her school email, despite trying the options above.
