In fairness to the OP, (and I completely [i]get[/i] where you are coming from with the misogyny thing) 'media whore' is an expression I would use for both sexes equally. Whilst this example [i]could[/i] be misgynistic, you'd have to look at the posters previous history of gender bias or sexis... Oh ain't no one got time for that! Fetch me my pitchfork! Burn him!!!!

Can't see the problem with Katie TBH. Ok, her presenting style does seem to be more and more "bouncy" these days, but then you need a little light relief when trying to explain quite a tricky in depth subject.
Afterall, we're not the only ones watching it are we..

Because the word "whore" has been used and the presenter is female.

Although I would agree that inferring that this is misogynistic/sexist is too much.

The term "media whore" is used for both male and female.

Although it isn't really used to describe professional presenters doing their job.

Yeah, the Chinese girl presenting a programme about China, able to quickly translate snippets of information for the viewer. Authentic.

Some farmer lady presenting a programme about China, smiling gormlessly when the Chinese person was talking to her. Less authentic.

And here you have the problem. Even people you start off liking to watch (or listen to - you know who you are, Susan Calman and David Mitchell) become over-exposed. ITV do it too. I guess it's just less risky in their eyes.
