This year a lot of ordering for the shop has had to be online or via zoom.
Currently she is using an iPad but wants a bigger screen. She has seen a thing called an all in one which she likes the look of as the screen could be mounted so that she is looking up at it.
Space is limited at the shop so I reckon a big laptop would be better as we could stash it away when needed.
Is there a laptop where the screen comes off and can be mounted higher up? I reckon looking up will give her a stiff neck but I've been over ridden.Budget is less than a grand and will only be used for looking at stuff on the intraweb.
We don't know what we are looking for but it must be idiot proof and have a great big screen.
Almost any pc monitor can be mounted to a bracket rather than on a stand. A standard pc or a laptop with a screen plugged in would achieve what you want. Or indeed, a laptop on a shelf with an external keyboard and mouse at 'desk' height.
Any spec pc or laptop would do the job, no need to spend a grand - half that is easily achievable.
This is a barebones mini PC, so you need to add a stick of ram, storage (SSD is included free) and install windows, but it is small and will easily do what you need.
Bolt it to the back of a monitor with an extension lead and use something like a Logitech K400 wireless media keyboard.
Another vote for Microsoft surface - had mine for years and it is superb.
I think Lenovo do some detachable screen laptops too.
Can't you get an ipad with a bigger screen though?
Easiest/cheapest option is to get a chromebook, stand, keyboard and mouse.
My Acer 15" chromebook has been 100% reliable, cost £130 and boots up faster than my macbook air.
I bought a new pc recently. A refurbed HP something, Windows 10, new keyboard, mouse and monitor (24"). Less than £150 delivered. I was amazed. Stone Refurb was the supplier. Add a webcam for a tenner. Bingo.
These any good?
I’m considering one
Problem with all-in-one PCs (and iMacs) is the upgradeability and repairability.
A laptop with a Thunderbolt port and a dock seems obvious. Run a big monitor and keyboard/mouse off the dock and it's basically a desktop PC. Unplug the USB cable and it's a laptop. Easy to mount monitors on the wall.
Or, if you don't want a laptop, buy an Intel NUC and mount it behind the monitor. Pretty much an all-in-one, but more upgradeable.

What about just a big screen and apple keyboard? I frequently use my iPad hooked up to a big screen and a keyboard. Just find if I’m actually ‘inputting’ rather than consuming stuff a real keyboard and screen really help. (Also have a wee Bluetooth mouse if I need to actually use a windows client at work.)
you can also get stick PCs that just plug in to a monitor's HDMI port. you'll get something with 8gb of RAM and 128Gb of disc with windows 10 for under 150 quid. BT keyboard and mouse and away you go.

Low power phone CPU with tiny storage. Gonna struggle to do more than just run a web browser.

🙂
I have a Dell Inspiron something or other.
It's touch screen so can basically be used as a tablet.
It's really good, but I've never used the touch screen, only accidentally 😊

£800 plus peripherals to browse the web and do zoom calls? Might as well buy a Macbook and look cool. 😀
