Have we done this?
On one hand the polar opposite of Tally Ho. Brash, most regularly used tool is a large hammer or a Foden. All filmed on mobile phones. Somewhat cavalier and disorganised, smeared on grease and often foul mouthed, but very skilled, deeply knowledgeable and passionate.
Compulsive viewing for me...
I got upto date last week after finding him, his m8 Fitter Mat has some stuff the main channel doesn't show.
Fitter Mat - YouTube
I'm just damned impressed how many of the engines just fire on up, and what he's doing (or trying) to do to make a working T-34 engine is inventive
PS: I think you'll find his most used regular tool is an adjustable spanner come hammer 🤣
Looks interesting.
Crikey that engine! 😳
Find it quite hard to watch stuff filmed with on camera mics now though. Must be me age.
I'll give it a go though.
Must not buy the Alvis Stalwart they are selling.
Must not buy an Alvis Stalwart.
Oh phew, someone else has bought it.
It's great entertainment 🙂
The last video he forgot to take off a swivel joint before firing up the engine which resulted in a huge oil leak and lots of broken metal.
One of the best for hearing a straight piped Chieftain is when Whistlindiesel comes to buy his tank.
Love watching Mr Hewes stuff - it's kinda the complete opposite of what so many people are trying to do on YouTube.
Just how much money must be spend on "stuff"!
(and fuel)
Mr Hewes and Tally Ho are two of my Youtube favorites. Exactly the same imho.

One of those is my ‘lottery win’ must haves! Although it would probably have the entire drivetrain swapped for a Mercedes 6x6 truck system, the Alvis is notorious for eating the diffs through transmission wind-up. And I don’t have access to a REME workshop…
I love his site. He's clearly well regarded by "serious" people too as he is doing a restoration for The Tank Museum.
Anyway, I'd have a Stalwart, but what I really want is a Chieftain.
along with Workshop Wednesday and the Chieftain it's where I get my tank fix. That Foden is an absolute beast! Some of the more "laddish" stuff can be a tough watch at times (the spraying each other in the face).
but what I really want is a Chieftain.
Centurion here with the gas guzzling rolls royce v12 goodness fire hazard !
I've utterly no use for that at all.
So why do I want it?
...because you saw one rip that stranded JCB out of a boggy field?
Thanks for posting that Jackson link, I now want to buy an 88" ragtop Landy.....
Just another excuse to post this https://www.topgear.com/car-news/retro/beast-auction-john-dodds-famous-merlin-engined-monster-sale
T34 running awful, then they strip down the engine to see what's wrong, talk about one hell of a tough engine to run like that!
