I think maybe Mr Average would rather not worry about the minutiae of nutrition/diet/being an uber lean riding god and just eat a bit of cake if he wants.

The clue is in the word "average".

The average British man

* [s]38 years and 4 months old. He has 41 years left to live[/s] almost average, 2 months out

* [s]If he works full time, he works 39 hours per week.[/s] 40hr week

* [s]He earns £28,270 a year.[/s] lol, more like 19k if I'm lucky

* He is educated up to A-level standard.

* If he lives in England, he is 175.3cm tall

* [s]He weighs 83.6kg[/s] more like 63kg

I'll have those extra cakes please, oh and that other 10k ta, I might be able to afford a pension then.

even average lady weighs more than me but she is not taller
I buy none of the five shopping items five items most likely to be included in a typical weekly grocery shop were a two-pint carton of semi-skimmed milk, sliced ham, unsweetened breakfast cereal, bacon and milk chocolate.

Well I've always considered the idea of being average to be a bit of an insult anyway....

Seems I'm the right height.

However, I'm too old, under paid, over qualified and over weight.

At least I only do a 37 hr week.

That's not that fat. I'd be pretty lean if I were 83.6kg and I'm only 2cm taller than that.

But in any case, that's a mean, so is meaningless (ironically).

You're only saying that 'cause you weigh more. 🙂

No, I mean that the mean figure does not mean the most common.

If you had a room full of the morbidly obese and the anorexic, you'd have a mean BMI that was quite healthy 🙂

Your sample above is the not representative of the poulation in general
No one is anorexic enough to reduce morbidly obese to ok as they must have a bmi of 40-45 or be 100% or more above ideal weight.
Apart from that great post 😉

True but you get my point. It's a pretty meaningless exercise calculating this stuff, is it not?

Horrible things averages (when they use the term as a generic for mean - median tends to make more sense a lot of he time). I mean I don't know any households with 2.4 people, or women with 1.96 children.

I'm a little old, if I was fulltime I'd work too much and earn a bit more (though since I'm not, I work too little and earn a bit less) am overeducated, just about the right height and too light.
