Going to be moving down south to Southampton area just wondering what the riding is like down there. I've got a road bike, cross bike and full sus (Blur LTC) but I need to probably get rid of a bike. N-1, nightmare 😭
Im thinking the cross bike might be good down there, probably better than the cross riding up here in the lakes and the Blur might be a bit unnecessary but no idea really what the mountain biking is like down there, somif anyone can tell me what the riding is like that'd be great!
I work in Southampton but live a bit further west in Chichester. Great road riding, you have the new Forest and into Purbeck etc heading west and then North east to the South Downs. Mountain biking is pretty good as well, especially with some short drives. I know east of you better with QECP for your trail centre style riding and the South Downs for just good old fashioned XC style riding.
Also gave Southampton Bike Park which I really need to have a look at on a lunch break.
I would keep all three, but at a pinch if the cross bikes not bad on the road I would keep that an the Blur. Or swap the blur for a good 29 hardtail!
Loads of decent road riding beyond Hortons Heath, Durley and Botley heading north/east. Helps if you like hills in that direction, but there's always New Forest heading west.
All your bikes will be fine.
flipping the question, If you had to keep one though i would suggest the blur. loads of xc and you're close to the south downs, new forest. Cross bike is a bit bollocks on most south down area bridleway and a 29" is more forgiving and probably faster. Plenty of road riding to do once you're out of Southampton but the roads are rarely quiet.
