I've been with Virgin for a long time and think really I should switch as I don't watch much TV and I could save some money.  So looking at BB options I see Vodafone look good value - anyone use them?.  The only TV I really want is Eurosport and those on Freeview so what options do I have?  Amazon?  YouView?  Freeview Play?

I phone Virgin every few years to negotiate a better deal.  Never really been tempted by anyone else when I see how cr@p their internet service is.

Vodafone here, 25 quid a month, including line rental, 35MB/s and got a free sonos play1 speaker to sign up.

Happy.

Ive been with virgin for a while and have done this repeatedly but it doesn’t appear to be working now even when I said I was leaving.

Internet isn’t as good as it used to be either which isn’t pursuading me to stay.

Last time I renewed with Virgin (4 weeks back) I decided I couldn’t be arsed with the ‘usual dance’ so I called them up, said “my contract is up, what’s the best deal you can give me?” Ended up with just under 40% and removed a couple of channels I’ve never watched.

Seems their new V6 box is v-good (last lot aren’t) but also expensive, if you’re happy with an older box they’re happier to discount.

Ended up with 100Mbps internet and some pay channels for £40 a month, worth it for me as the alternative involved fitting an ariel for freeview.

Last time I rang I said I wanted to leave and they said ok, why? I said it was because I was paying a lot of money more than new customers and getting a worse deal. They just said “well that’s how it is” and wouldn’t offer me anything.

Just keep their broadband and get rid of everything else then.

Was going to move away but phoned up to cancel and they gave me a free V6 box which is worlds better than the old box, and doubled my speed to 200Mbs for free. Couldn't couldn't find a better offer elsewhere. Really does seem to be luck of the draw as to who picks up the phone.

On my list of things to do (renegotiate), paying £42/month for 50Mb/s BB and a phone line we've never even plugged a phone into...

Just re-negotiated with 02 and for a 10% price reduction, got a 36x increase in BB allowance! Mainly as I was on a 10 year old tariff though....
