Hi peeps, I'm aiming to move to Turkey soon and wondered if anyone has any tips (@leffeboy has already been v helpful).
I have a lot of stuff, including many bike bits and frames, all half decent and usable but older and not worth much. Plenty other random crap.
My plan is to sell the stuff I can, donate the rest and keep a wee bit that may be useful in the future (I have a bit of storage I can use in my flat which I am letting to a colleague). Is this reasonable? I'm shocked at eBay fees and it's quite time consuming also, are there companies that will do this for you?
Car needs MOTd and tarted up a bit to sell hoping to DIY but time is marching on...
I'll be starting a language course when I move. I've been told to take stuff that reminds me of home which seems sensible.
Any other tips? Cheers Al
I can put you in touch over on my forum with a guy from UK who did the same quite a while ago, he's so happy there.
Don't sell on ebay

Facebook Market Place
Gumtree
On the latter two you will meet some of society's bottom feeders
Long term plan - do you intend to come back? What is the window of decision? ( And why are you going?). I don't expect you to tell me that - but you have to have it straight in your head.
Unless the storage you have in the uk is for free, don't bother ( from a man who spend 4 k over three years on stuff worth less that 2K)
Re the car - where are you based? I know a very decent trader who will give a fair price and zero hassle if you are in North/West Yorkshire
@mrmoofo I'm going to settle down with my partner there. Initially on a Turkish language course then probably TEFL. We might come back to live here at some point, no firm plans. Neither of us need to work full time financially, we don't necessarily want to get married right away but would do so if it helps with visa stuff.
Noted and agreed re storage - it is indeed free, am thinking more of personal/sentimental stuff that I might want to get sent over at some point (no idea if that is worthwhile cost wise tho).
@johndoh not a million miles away in Edinburgh but it's a bit odd/cult/cheap - Smart Roadster - which isn't going to be mainstream enough for your average dealer. Happy to speak to him tho!
^^ I don't think he'd be interested in going to Edinburgh unfortunately (he'd do around 25 mile radius from Bradford).
Turk musunez?
Vinted is really good for selling clothes. Dead easy to install the app and get selling. Buyer pays fees, postage is super easy too.
I’m looking for a Smart Roadster.
