Been looking for a 10" Android tablet with 3G for a while.
The price of the Xoom with 3G has now come down from £580 to £399.
Is this a good deal or would I be better waiting for either further price drops or a better tablet to arrive.
I like the look of the new Lenovo ThinkPad but yet to see one in the flesh.
Have you seen AndyPad?
Launched this week:

This looks interesting, no idea on price yet, but I think all tablets are currently overpriced.

That Andypad looks interesting. 7" form factor at 1024x600? I should coco.
xoom £329 on amazon for wifi only version.
Have a look at the kogan agora. A 7" tab with capacitive screen for £119
Andy Tab looks ok as a kids plaything for watching videos etc. - not meant as disrespectful but it is not a serious business tool and does not offer 10" screen and 3G which I mentioned in my post
I need something to store PDF documents and access the web whilst at customer sites so I guess I am looking at the higher end of the market.
Have a look at the kogan agora.
800x480. Meh.
A lot of cheap tablets are, sadly, pish. I've played with a good number and, speaking as an Android fan, there's not much comes close to the iPad I'm afraid.
Guy at work has a Xoom. It's the first non-Apple tablet I've played with that doesn't blow. But, it's too big for my needs (as is the iPad) and pricey.
Nooooo.... don't get the Zoom (or any other Android tablet) for viewing PDFs. I thought it was a great idea since all the manuals at work are PDF, but there are no capable PDF readers for Android.
If you do get one, bear in mind that while it's smooth enough to scroll through a PDF, you have no ability to navigate by table of contents, and if you want to jump straight to page 123 of 300, you'll have to gaze at a blank page for quite some time while it renders pages 1 to 122.
PDF screams iPad2 and GoodReader. Sorry.
Flaperon,
Thanks for that - am surprised that it is a problem but good that I know before shelling out.
Thanks

Not even the adobe pdf viewer?
The Adobe PDF viewer works OK if you're contented to flick from page to page from the beginning, or if you know exactly which page you want (ie the page number). But if your PDF uses a table of contents (like most manuals) the Adobe Reader can't handle it.
It also can't handle really big files - some of ours are 120MB and it just crashes the reader - while GoodReader on the iPad works like a charm.
Update: Having said all that, it appears that Samsung have sorted the problem on the Galaxy Tab 10.1, but it's significantly more expensive than the Xoom.
none of the current tablets are really pdf readers of choice - too much glare.
