Anyone know anything about these? It won't go into neutral whilst stationary - it's OK when cold but heats up and then starts sticking. I've changed the oil which helped (don't think it'd been done for a while) make everything run more smoothly but still isn't right. Also drags slightly when clutch is engaged in 1st. Perusing Haynes but wondered if anybody had any ideas. Cheers. 🙂
I'd strip it and clean the plates, have a good look at the actuator assy. too
Start simple check the cable before you start taking cases off. Mr Laverda is most probably on the money though.
probably dumb question, but have you played with the bite point, (ie if you have to pull a lot of clutch lever to disengage clutch you could try adjusting the cable so that you need to pull less lever travel - so for the same pull there is more 'disengagement')
I did tighten the clutch cable a bit, as it seemed to feel a lot looser the longer I rode for. By the time I got home the other night it was almost as though the cable had slipped totally. May need to do as suggested above and strip the whole lot out. Might just replace the lot!
Start with the easy stuff - cable first.
It's probably the cable. As it stretches its harder to disengage the clutch. If its getting worse the cable is probably fraying and about to snap. I'd get a new one. Motorbike clutch cables are a piece of cake to fit and generally as cheap as chips.
CG 125 cables are £7-8 on eBay.
Not shifting into neutral is a classic motorbike sign of slightly dragging clutch.
I'd do the cable first- never a bad idea really. I don't know the CG in particular but a lot of bikes have fairly delicate actuator mechanisms, often it's a roller/worm drive thing and once the bearings wear it can all go to cock, so I'd also have a look at that.
Doubt it's the plates tbh. Anyone know if the CG has a wear-ey basket?
