Well what a start to the season!
Although I am torn on the decision to introduce the sprint races this year it certainly produced an exciting race yesterday!
I am a big Jack miller fan so was shouting him on for the win all weekend!
Seems him and his crew have found something with the new chassis and other developments in the team that work for him.
So pleased to see Marc back on the podium, he's proper been through the ringer the last few seasons, hope Honda can sort him out a decent bike so he can perform at his best, he's clearly over riding that bike to drag a result out of it hence trying risky moves that needed his race today.
On we go to Argentina!
I was in our local café (in Portugal) this afternoon ..... the passion here for MotoGP is high.
We live close to the Spanish Border, all I can say is that anyone called Marquez better not cross the bridge for a while! 😄
Marquez ruined that race with yet another bonehead move. Ending Miquel's race instantly, (luckily not his career) and shuffling Martin down the pack. Two of the riders that could have gave Pecco a run for his money.
He should have got a race ban for that move , IMO, like Nakagami did last season.
If the bike isn't capable of winning, why put the rest of the grid at risk by constantly leaving his brain in the motorhome?
Sad to see the once imperious M1 Yamaha running around mid-oack. Seems the inline-4 party is well and truly over, doesn't it?
Again, I was hesitant about the change of format, but the sprint was great. On the flip side, Marquez gets a double long lap penalty for that stupid move. That’s Bohnson level leniency.

Exactly. Folk go on about Marquez's talent and ability, but if he has that talented he'd know how far he can push the bike without becoming a menace to everyone else on the track.
The talent is unquestionable but it's the sociopathic tendencies, that are the problem. (for the other riders, anyway)
He is desperate to cement himself as the GOAT and he knows time is running out. His and Lorenzo's sterling efforts in 2015 helped to make eclipsing Rossi's title haul a little easier, though.
He's been offered megabucks from other manufacturers but always stuck with the winning formula. Now it appears that Ducati is the bike to be on so maybe there's an element of regret there, too?
I know he's not there to make friends but there is a whole grid full of riders who might return the favour, one day. Lots of Italian machinery and riders, some of whom work for (and are related to) his nemesis.
Good!
“It was impossible for Marc to avoid the crash" - Puig
Absolute bollox.
Marquez has always ridden like that. When he was out in front by a country mile it didn't affect anyone (but him). Now he's in the pack it causes all manner of trouble for the others.

Insert "Just after he tagged Jorge" before 🙂
Really surprised that Oliveira that got away so lightly, lucky boy.
Enjoyed the race, shame Marc can't contain himself though. Totally agree with @theflyingox, if he was as amazing as everyone says he is he'd know the limits of himself and the bike. I'm actually wondering whether a lot of his skill is essentially just him getting away with it. I think that as the bike has got worse, he's had to put a lot more emphasis on luck. As for Puig, well he's such a knob, always has been.
It's mega early in the season and I think once we get back to Europe we'll have a better idea of where everyone's form lies but Bagnaia looks ominous.
Another cracking sprint race 🙂
Yep, totally agree. Full-on action, from flag to flag, without having to worry about tyres running out of grip. A wet sprint race might be a scary affair, though.
Nice to see those youngsters are more than capable of clean close-racing and don't feel the need to use other riders as berms,
Meanwhile HRC are trying to evade the incredibly soft double long-lap penalty handed out to the Marquez by race direction. Pull a sickie, in Argentina, then try to assert that the penalty can only be applied there, due to the wording when it was handed out. I thought the Japanese were, above all, an honourable people?
I think Honda are correct to protest. If they don't, the stewards will keep making mistakes (they may well do anyway but rules will probably be rewritten because of the protest)
