I think Honda will have words and tell Marquez to behave himself, whether he listens is another thing.

Lorenzo is the one under pressure IMO

blocked by some unprofessional riding from Pedrosa

Thats one helluva leap of faith there! Its highly likely that Pedrosa will disappear off into the distance never to be seen again. Rossi does not have the form of Dani around Valencia and would do well to follow him throughout practice and qualifying.

Crazy Joe could have an influence if he can mess with Lorenzo, he's a mate of Rossi I think.

Hmm, starting at the back of the grid in Valencia and potentially working all the way to the front? Now who was the last person to do that? Ironic... 😀

Now who do we know like that... ?

Isn't Cal already on the full fat Honda after they gave him all the upgrades while Dani was out? Plus, he's just about smart enough to know that if he gets in the way he'll be hated forever. Cal isn't good enough (unlike Marc) to alienate 50+ % of the fans and get away with it.

The over head view is pretty damming on MM and there's a few videos going around at the moment showing MM's got form for leaning in on riders, but it's so much yesterdays news now - even if Rossi's team can lodge another appeal the FIM doesn't have to hear it until after Valencia.

It would be a crying shame if Rossi hangs up his leathers at the end of this season - the debate could go on for years.

Still, if I had to bet the house on any particular rider being able to start on the back and make it to within 6 points of George, I'd bet on Rossi, I just hope he doesn't trip over a back marker or some mysteriously aggressive move from a rider in need of a ride next year.

Unless it rains of course

....weather forecast suggests an 80% chance of a wet race, could get interesting.

The over head view is pretty damming on MM

I see it the other way. I see a looming white line (with a tight turn just out of shot) and Rossi attempting to determine where MM goes (which he's admitted to)

I agree P-Jay, and not because I'm also PJ.

Rossi pushes MM out wide while staring at him, all a bit daft
Rossi stops staring
MM leans into Rossi, 'overleaning' for that speed, there can only be contact
MM is crashing already
Rossi shrugs off MM with foot

All looks bad for Rossi because of initial daftness and foot movement.

(all need to see the aerial view video)

The overhead view is so damming Lin Jarvis says our man was in the wrong!
Marquez was racing for position as he's meant to do, he's a racer. This is always going to effect overall lap times but he can't block like F1 cars, the things are 2 feet wide, it just doesn't work.
If Valentino had concentrated on racing rather the ****in' about he wouldn't be in the position he finds himself in now. Pretty sure any other rider would have DQed.
As for his post race comments, Marquez ruined my championship. He didn't play fair. Unbelievable!
Gutting when one of your all time racing heroes let you down.

Since all broadband providers are pretty much the same, just go with BT and you get the TV channels - it's what I do.

Aren't they going to charge next year?

Looking at BT's site for new customers it's £5 a month if you have BT broadband, £20 if you don't.

Anyone know of a legal way to get a day-pass for BT Sport or to watch it elsewhere legally.

no he was getting in the way, on purpose, to influence the championship, which is bang out of order.

it wouldve been a black and white flag in car racing for unsportsmanlike conduct. There are not flags for this in motogp http://www.motogp.com/en/MotoGP+Basics/Flags+Lights

Shame because gits like marquez wouldve been black flagged soon after the 4th repass

I've come up with an alternative after polishing my tinfoil hat. Also I don't think Cal feels he owes Honda anything now.

Rossi is starting at the back of the grid.

In front of him is a young Ozzie who has a future at Honda, and who probably is a mate of Stoner too...

He doesn't need to knock Rossi off, just to start with soft grippy tyres and hold him up for a few laps while the rest clear off.

Let's see if he gets a special bike. 🙂

They're only doing a season pass, which of course is only one race now - but they want £60 for it. I'll bury my head for a few hours and torrent the plucker for that when it pops up.

If they just give Jack a factory machine he'll be in the gravel all weekend, it's not like he can test it between now and then!

Wouldn't it be great if the rest of the grid dud a bit of sand bagging off the line to let Rossi get into 4th at least to make a race of it

Yep, a fiver a month - if you are that poor that you can't afford it, I feel sorry for you; but I'd guess it's more likely you just don't want to pay - so no sympathy 🙂

I'm not particularly a Rossi fan but looking at the overhead shot it looks entirely of Marquez own making to me. The side shot isn't so clear ill grant you. It would be a shame if what is a somewhat contentious incident decided what has been a great season.

From the motogp site:

If Lorenzo wins the race then Rossi needs to finish second to become world champion.

If Lorenzo finishes second then Rossi needs to finish on the podium to become world champion.

If Lorenzo finishes third then Rossi needs to finish sixth or better to become world champion.

If Lorenzo finishes fourth then Rossi needs to finish ninth or better to become world champion.

If Lorenzo finishes fifth to ninth then Rossi needs to finish no more than six places further back to become world champion.

If Lorenzo finishes lower than ninth then Rossi will be world champion.

It's going to be interesting.

Evening.

Rossi took the gloss off the championship. Funny how others in the know think this.

Shades of 90's Schumacher in a way.

This and the subsequent bleating/attacks kinda damages his future legacy.

Where as abandoning reason and dignity in a misguided attempt to defend the indefensible seems to be all the rage.
🙂

Rossi has been, up until now the master of mind games - sadly, it looks like the only head he's messed with this time is his own.
And stained his immaculately curated reputation in the process.

It might just be one of the moments that comes to define him.
Shame.

My opinion is that Rossi is probably 4th fastest out of the pack. However by being consistent and the occasional flash of his former form he's in the lead, winning the war rather than the battles.

But I reckon the championship battle is over right now.

And that's a crying shame because it would have been epic.

And I remain convinced that Marquez was at fault. I've been expecting him to kill or seriously injure another rider for the last couple of years.

If Rossi does take the championship he will be the GOAT. If not he has a perfect excuse.

If Lorenzo takes it, it will always be a tarnished championship. That would be a shame because I think he is capable of taking it without handicapping Rossi.

I'm sure his mindset will be to win the race by such a commanding lead over the 2nd rider that there will be no doubt who is number 1.

BTW what are the odds of Rossi retiring if it goes pear-shaped for him? Might create a nice vacancy for Brad Smith. 🙂

Race Prediction:
Lorenzo
Pedrosa
Marquez
Iannone
Rossi

I'd go with 3rd. He's always been faster than Dani over a season (i'm not counting the Duke experimental years). But he is still the best bike racer on the planet and for this reason i still think he has a chance on Sunday. He'll not win the race but i don't think Georgie will either. It will be mighty exciting that's for sure.

As for the incident last race? Rossi was a dick for winding Marquez up before the race but Marc was an even bigger dick for reacting as he did during the race. There's an unwritten rule about not interfering with riders going for a championship and it's my opinion the Marquez was out to spoil Vales race. Verdict: Both dicks but still amazing to watch riding a bike.

My prediction is there's no point predicting what will happen in any race, especially this one. Saying that, i'd love Crazy Joe to win 😀

The penalty sucks major ass, but in a way it's made the situation very clear cut, it's poop or bust. Vale hasn't got to worry about getting a fast bike for qualifying, he can spend all his time working on race set up. Come race day, it's a matter of pull the pin and let the cards fall where they will - if he can't catch the leaders, it's because of the penalty, if he can catch them, he's got a major psychological edge, and if he can actually pull it off, he really will be the GOAT (I mean, he is already, but, you know...). 🙂

Rossi won't retire.....yet.

He still has a year left on his contract and he'll be interested in the new regs with controlled ECU, Micelin tyres, etc....

Could make the playing field even more level and with Rossi's experience with tyre preservation over a race distance together with this years performance, you may just see a similar year perhaps with a few more wins thrown in.....

Prediction, Lorenzo disappears off, Rossi works way through pack to about 4th tyres are then past it, holds position to end, Lorenzo wins champs as long as he doesn't fall off.
Unless it rains, then same will happen except Rossi will be up a place or two & Lorenzo is more likely to fall off/head go to pieces.
Think champs Lorenzo's unfortunately :-/

I would have agreed with that until the last few races when Pedrosa showed his form after the operation.

A win by Iannone would be a good end to the season. 🙂

Qualifying suggests Lorenzo will beat Rossi though.

Reckon we'll see Spanish riders making sure a Spaniard gets the Championship?

Amazing race. Heart rate right up there for the first 10 laps and the last 3.

Liked the interview with Pedrosa. Quiet man, had some career threatening problems that he seems to have got past, and found his form again, liked his comments about finding form, building himself, realising his racing, concentrating on doing things well before doing things fast, the speed following the quality. And all that mid race. Thoughtful.

I like him. I'll be rooting for him next year. After Rossi, though!

Didn't watch the race. Was out riding in howling rain instead. I think that was more fun.

When championships are decided by the blokes in blazers, it's like cricket, total shit.

I don't think I'll bother following MotoGP next year. I'll wait until a Brit or an Ozzie is in a position to do something useful.

Brad Smith & Danny Kent in other words.

Epicyclo Rossi and Lorenzo decided the race. Are you saying all those who saw him deliberately move his leg are wrong?

Would MM have fallen on his own without that? A pro and very able rider?

Sorry. What's starting to come out of this is a tarnishing of a legacy and sycophancy.
