New phone time is looming as the charge port on my aging s5neo is becoming increasingly unreliable. Looking to buy outright rather than pay monthly, Moto G6 looks good on paper especially with deals to be had around £150 mark.
Pros for me are splash proof, reasonable memory, should be slightly faster than current phone, camera looks ok, gorilla glass.
Cons are finding a host of reviews going back 12 months complaining of poor incoming call volume and issue with outgoing speech due to over enthusiastic noise cancelling. Having previously suffered with a Nokia lumia that made me sound like I was down a well to anyone I called unless I used headphones and mic, I'm loathe to be stuck in that trap again.
Any experiences good or bad with the Moto G6?
TIA
I've one as work phone.
It's fast, slick to use and so far the only issue I've had is a stuttering YouTube app.
Battery life is ok. Moto moves thing to turn on light and camera is useful.
Face recognition to unlock is great, and it works unlike my Sony.
I'd buy one again.
I like my Sony XZ1 more - nicer screen, touch faster all round, better sound in calls and watching videos, better battery. But it's not much better than the G6.
No but the G7 is due on march 1st. MyG4 has been bombproof but the battery is dieing...
Same as Matt, really.
I have one as a work phone, and for the money it is utterly fantastic. My Sony has a better camera, is waterproof and just a little sharper overall, but the G6 is still seriously impressive.
Me and the wife both have g6s replacing our g3s .
The camera lag is our only complaint. Other than that they work well.
We use a camera for taking photos most of the time as unless you really take your time with the g6 it looks like you took the photo with a potato.
I'd buy it again.
Mmm. I was considering a G6 and it seems to mostly get good writeups for the camera, which I really need to be decent. So maybe not hey?
(My moto G was supposed to have a good camera too and it was just awful)
Remember that the Moto G range is the bottom of the pile, it is relatively cheep fro what it provides. If you want a decent camera then you will need to spend more.
Agree the camera is poor, otherwise it's a great phone. The rear cover is fragile, it cracks like glass, so put a good case on it.
Have one for work and have owned G4 & G5 before.
Moto gestures is great (including turn it over to silence it).
Camera is uninspiring but good enough for utility photos.
Bit bulky though.
No complaints at all for the G6 for work but I have a P20 Lite for personal use - much better camera, slimmer but a bit pricier.
I think the camera is pretty good. Not amazing in low light but half the time I can't be bothered to take out my proper cameras (eos7d and rx100m3).
So no users experiencing issues with call quality then - that's good. At the price I can live with a less than great camera, living with a phone that is rubbish for calls would be a disaster.
If I had the funds available a P20 for the s****y camera would be on the list, but if I had that sort of cash I'd probably not be riding 26ers still 😂

Mine came with a pretty nice clear case in the box.

I'd like a camera that's at least as good as the first budget smartphone I ever bought, my moto g couldn't even manage that.
My lad has one, G6s, fantastic for the money, I was going to get myself one, but they now have the G7 range out which is making choices tricky..
The Honor range are worth looking at too, similar to the G6 range but I find them pretty quick and with good cameras, phone call quality is good.
Oh and the G6 play doesn’t like being dropped in water....
I bought a g6 play. I think I cheaped out. Should have gone for a g6 or g6 plus. My daughter's G4 plus has been great
It's not a disaster but it hangs briefly to often
