Hi all,
I have a mate who has had a rough time of it the last couple of years. Had a life scare, and is still dealing with having a possible ticking time bomb in the main artery going to his neck, then marriage split, then girlfriend split. He has always been very fit, and cycles road a lot. He told me the other day that he is training now as he is jacking his job in May, to go to the Alps for 4 months, and do some of the classic high cols, finishing in Alpe d'Huez. He seems very upbeat about it all, and is, to quote him, "not gonna shave or wash for the whole trip " lol
So I wanted to get him a Xmas gift that would inspire him for his trip. Possibly a guide book, possibly something else not sure really. Any suggestions?
Deodorant? 🙂

Something practical e.g.ice gloves to ride in.
A map of the area with Cols on.
Does he have a gps with pressure sensor to log the ascent
French phrase book
If he's camping some kind of camping luxury. Coffee maker?

Does he have loads of kit? A wiggle voucher might be of some use if he's going to have to shell out for lots of stuff.
Cheers all, will look for a guide book me thinks, French high pass cycling routes or such like. Thanks for all the suggestions tho, particularly like the mugs!
