You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've just put our Caddy Maxi Life up for sale. MOT runs out end of June so it's another month until we can get it done 'early'. Is it worth doing now? The only advisory on the last one was tyres (since done) and it's been clean all it's life.
Does this make a big difference when putting something up on Autotrader (or where else would you try selling?). It's a 2008 and very low mileage so far from new but by no means a banger
A fresh MOT will sell easier than one with a month or two left. Especially on vehicle over 10 years old.
I might look at a car/van with a month left to run on an MOT but any offer I made would be conditional on it having a new MOT when I bought/paid for it.
Yeah. Unless you expect it to fail I reckon a new MOT is a much more attractive proposition for the buyer than one with only a couple of months left. May not make a huge difference to sale price but certainly makes it more attractive and therefore easier to sell.
I would be more wary of buying a vehicle of that age with only a month of MOT left.
The disadvantage is that you'll lose a month, i.e 12 months rather than thirteen, but you aren't planning on keeping it; full MoT is more attractive to the buyer IMHO
If you're convinced it'll pass easily, then get it tested for sure, the price of the test is small and the benefit is big.
Any time someone says in an ad "2 months MOT but will pass easily" I just think "so test it then if it's so easy".
+1 on the above, up for sale with a month or two's MoT rings alarm bells that something expensive has been spotted and it's being sold on while it's still the next owners problem to get through the next test.
Cheers - that makes sense. it's on the classifieds if anyones interested.
