I have a very slow puncture in my spare tyre, it takes weeks to loose pressure slow. It might be a bit soft at the moment and i am wondering if i should get it fixed before MOT or just carry on and ignore it.
Is a flat spare going to give me a fail?
If the spare is in the car when it goes for MOT it must be legal.
If the car doesn't have a spare it won't fail an MOT.
Therefore - just remove the spare from the car when you take it in to be tested!
I bought a £50 Ford Escort from a friend of a friend that came with a rusted and slick bald spare tyre in the boot. The car had 12months MOT. WHAT THE ****! It was rusted pretty much into the floor of the car. I dont think its part of the test- It cant be if that wheel was stuck in there all the time!?!!
Personally for my own peace of mind I would get the puncture repaired... Not for the MOT but now you have mentioned it you know you will get a flat very soon....
As stated above, if it has a spare it must be legal so you can remove it. Most MOT chaps are pretty reasonable and understand it is just a paper exercise and don't bother checking.
Pump it up just before MOT and keep a footpump in the boot
Eh? Why not just get it fixed? It's just plain dumb not to

Because i had actually forgotten about it, it is one of those remember it needs to be done when you are in no position to sort it type of things, week before last i could have done it but had forgotten, last week on holiday i remembered but wasn't really able to do much about it. Its on a list of things to do but i might not have time to get it done before the MOT.
but i might not have time to get it done before the MOT.
you just drop it off at kwikfit or whatever & pick it up later - how hard is that?
Had my MOT done Tuesday. Stood and watched them do it - they didnt check mine even though there is one there and its legal.

and if i said the MoT is tomorrow first thing? and i am at work without car?
The spare tyre is irrelevent to a MOT inspection. 15 years as MOT inspector allows me to be definate about this.
As Above the Spare wheel is not part of the test (ex MOT inspector) As for the quick fit option, they will condemn everything and try to scare the crap out of you. You might need an ambulance when you get the bill. 🙁
