You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Pigface's thread got me thinking, what movies have I seen the most times(?) I'm not a serial DVD watcher and I don't think I've seen hardly any movies twice at the cinema.
What's your top 3 - you know the ones that you can't help when they come around on late night TV:
Blade runner
Army of Darkness
Matter of life and death
?
Princess Bride
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory
Taboo
I would guess at the following, but I watch a LOT of films even if I've seen them many times. These are in no way my favourites.
Top Gun
Terminator 2
Jaws
actually scratch Jaws and replace with Die Hard - I've seen that a million times.
Leon,
The next three days,
Kung Fu Panda.
Fight Club
Blade Runner
Aliens
Thanks deadly - I shouldn't of googled that last 'cinematic classic' 😀
Road house
Point break
Snatch
The Fountain
Hot Fuzz
Zombieland
Also SPVTW, NCFOM and Attack The Block (how am I meant to pick just 3??).
Star Wars
Wizard of Oz
Snatch
Withnail and I
Starship Troopers
Zoolander
🙂
Oops, sorry stuey 😳
Probably,
Blade Runner
Star Wars (was quite obsessed with it as a kid)
Aliens
Closely followed by stuff like Tremors, Excalibur, The Thing, Dogma, etc.

Blade Runner
Platoon
Withnail and I
Closely followed by -
Sideways
A Clockwork Orange
Full Metal Jacket
Big Lebowski
Bladerunner
Garden State
Not that these are ever on TV.
oops sorry, Yeah, Dogma is probably quite high up in the list too. Funny film.
Blade Runner
Spirited Away
American Beauty
Life of Brian
Die Hard
The Truman Show
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (its not chrimbo unless its watched).
Predator
Once upon a time in mexico
Vanishing Point
Manhunter
No country for old men
Dogma is probably quite high up in the list too. Funny film
awful film, even with Jay and Silent Bob in it
'forgotten Vanishing point -Petrocelli and a naked chick on a motorcycle.
- after watching him it took me years to track down a decent root beer.
No surprise that the resident bizzie can't stick to three. Always with the extras...
The Mummy
The Mummy Returns
The Scorpion King
One of these is on ITV 3 at all times, even now, probably.

back to the future 2
back to the future 3
Once I catch one I then have to watch the others so have seen them all more times then I dare guess.
< checks EPG to see if he's missing the Scorpion King>
Quite possibly:
Star Wars
Empire Strikes Back
Planet of the Apes (original)
Then again, back in my school days I had a penchance for:
Ferris Buellers Day Off
Weird Science
Ghostbusters
Either way, pretty highbrow stuff!
Die Hard (to the point my g/f can no longer watch it)
Kelly's Heroes'
Princess Bride
Nothing high brow just watchable pap
As we are currently on school holidays:
Nanny McPhee
Nanny McPhee and the big bang
[s]Bolt[/s]
Night at the museum
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (original)
Quadraphina
Saturday Night Fever.
Blade runner
Withnail and I
Life of Brian
Due to kids
Transformers - the original cartoon one- theirs
Princess bride [ ok my choice really]
Yellow Submarine - both
Planet of the Apes (original)
Oooh I've watched that loads but not for a while, must get it on soon, cheers.
Withnail and I
Amelie
Welcome To Woop Woop
Swingers
Mr Smith Goes to Washington
Big Wednesday
as a kid i must have watched the star wars films hundreds of times
i dont think anything else will top that now
The "can't help but watch" list is entirely different to my favourite list which is different to the "best films ever made" list.
Can't help but watch:
Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
Point Break
I'll save the others for the "correct" thread. Otherwise the thread police will tell me off again.

Same here. I'm pretty sure I can still recite the entire script of BTTF from memory, I watched it so many times as a kid.
I could watch these three time & time again
Betty Blue
Platoon
Green Mile
Weird what peoples selection seems to say about them in my jaded mind
inspired by bigblokes christmas choice i'd go with
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
Elf
The Santa Clause
otherwise it's just not christmas 🙂
Amadeus
Seven
Last samurai
The Troll Hunter
District 9
Napoleon Dynamite
I always like to watch these again and again even though there are not my favorites.....
Star Trek 4 The Voyage Home
Red Dawn
Rambo
Sound of music (come on, fess up...half of you have seen it dozens of times too!)
Monty Python Meaning of Life....my fave python
Independence Day .... big silly sci fi but as a familly we love it and it has great one liners.
(Wall:E is quickly catching up and will be on most viewed top 3 in another few years).
Probably Anchor Man, Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters.
I would guess at:
The Matrix
Airplane!
Ghostbusters
The Great Escape
Blazing Saddles
Ronin
Pulp Fiction
5th Element
Star Wars
Blade Runner
Apocolypse Now (original version)
Dogtown and Z boys
Monsters vs Aliens.
Monsters vs Aliens
Monsters Vs Aliens.
Not cos it's a stunning film (though is pretty good), but the kid's obsessed by it, and watches it most days!
DrP
Tremors
Big Trouble in Little China
Blues Brothers
Taxi Driver
National Lampoons Animal House
Goodfellas
Army of Darkness
Never heard of this film!
1. The Incredibles (child & dad friendly, I think I like it more than him!)
2. Miami Blues
3. Thelma & Louise (wife's fave)
(in the running: Godfather pt 2, Near Dark, True Romance, Reservoir Dogs)
bigblackshed - this may be the 'films I've forgotten about and need somebody to remind me of thread' but is also turning into 'films you've never seen all the way through' thread - 'sound of music' - CHB.
I kid myself into 'social connectivity' by watching a film off the TV, instead of 'remembering' to watch it from DVD.
Perhaps I need a STW 'film club': to include movies I bought/meant to watch - but never got around to 😕
Taxi (Original French version, obviously)
Great Escape
Italian Job
Could watch them all again and again!
Same here. I'm pretty sure I can still recite the entire script of BTTF from memory, I watched it so many times as a kid.
😆 yeah, you know the scene in BTTF2 where Doc is explaining to Marty why they are in an alternate 1985 on the chalk board in Docs storm damaged workshop. I used to recite the dialogue to that scene to my poor Mum and Dad when I was a nipper. Bored them rigid I did. I still remember the script to that bit now. 🙄
Army of DarknessNever heard of this film!
AKA, The Evil Dead 3.
Mine, probably The Princess Bride, Aliens, Escape From New York. Maybe.
Seen Star Wars a lot (obviously), Highlander, BTTF, The Terminator, most of the Brat Pack and related movies, Wierd Science et al, Ghostbusters, probably more.
I never seem to watch the end of films these days. All the ones on before the watershed are rubbish and the ones on after the watershed are after I head to bed, so I just end up watching the first few minutes and then leave.
I've seen the first 30 minutes of Die Hard 4.0 three times now. Please don't tell me how it ends.
I'll always watch The Princess Bride if it is on though
Fight Club
Primer (still don't fully understand it)
Shoot Em Up (we made up a lot of good drinking games to this at uni 😆 )
Top 2 are easy:
Jaws
Aliens
Had them both on VHS and literally wore the tapes out.
Number 3 is harder could be any from:
Die Hard
Braveheart
The Matrix
Blade Runner
Star Wars
Life of Brian
Ghostbusters
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Back to the Future
I don't watch my favourite films that often anymore as apprantly "I seen that already" is a reason not to watch a film!
Debbie does Dallas.
Taxi (Original French version, obviously)
The Queen Latifa version was the only film I've ever walked out of! Only went as I love the originals (Taxi 2 trumps 1, I reckon) and I had free tickets!
DrP
All the ones on before the watershed are rubbish and the ones on after the watershed are after I head to bed, so I just end up watching the first few minutes and then leave.
PVR ??
Raising Arizona
Airplane
Fargo
Tough call but these would be up there in no particular order
Snatch
Pulp Fiction
5th Element.
Own all 3 on DVD and Blu Ray but still end up watching them if they are on Tele ....
I'm amazed that no-one else has said Top Gun. I can pretty much copy it word for word.
And why have so many people got the Princess Bride? I've never seen it.
What I would love is to know actually how many times I've watched all the films I've watched - I think there would be lots I've seen all or most of 20-30 times.
The ones that I have watched over and over are:
Repo Man
Life is Sweet
Hear My Song
American Beauty
House of Flying Daggers
Bladerunner (the original voice over version tbh)
The Sure Thing
Serenity
Gladiator...
Used to endlessly watch Paris Texas & Jesus of Montreal too, but I'm over that now
If we're going back to childhood, then:
1. That awful half-animated Lord of the Rings
2. The Prince and the Pauper (with Oliver Reed)
3. The Outsiders
Fargo
+1 - what a film!
and
Glengarry Glenross
and
The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2)
Flash Gordon (as a kid)
Batman Begins
Trainspotting
In adulthood:
1. Thin Red Line
2. Magnolia
3. Wings of Desire
erm...
can't think of any films I've deliberately watched all the way through more than a couple of times
Point Break might be one of them though. And Blade Runner. BTTF maybe. The Birds?
isn't it amazing even with a wall/bookshelf full of DVDs, how many have you actually watched more than once?
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
True Romance
City of God
Fight Club
The Usual Suspects
Alien
Most watched :
- The Big Lebowski
- Freddy got fingered
- Point Break
Highlander
Withnail & I
Empire Strikes Back
Casablanca
Pulp Fiction
Aliens
And why have so many people got the Princess Bride? I've never seen it.
There's an obvious solution to that dilemma.
1 = lord of the rings (trilogy)
1 = The Big Chill
3 The Big Lebowski
