Pigface's thread got me thinking, what movies have I seen the most times(?) I'm not a serial DVD watcher and I don't think I've seen hardly any movies twice at the cinema.
What's your top 3 - you know the ones that you can't help when they come around on late night TV:
Blade runner
Army of Darkness
Matter of life and death
?

I would guess at the following, but I watch a LOT of films even if I've seen them many times. These are in no way my favourites.

Top Gun
Terminator 2
Jaws

actually scratch Jaws and replace with Die Hard - I've seen that a million times.

Quite possibly:

Then again, back in my school days I had a penchance for:

Ferris Buellers Day Off
Weird Science
Ghostbusters

Either way, pretty highbrow stuff!

The "can't help but watch" list is entirely different to my favourite list which is different to the "best films ever made" list.

Can't help but watch:

Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
Point Break

I'll save the others for the "correct" thread. Otherwise the thread police will tell me off again.

Same here. I'm pretty sure I can still recite the entire script of BTTF from memory, I watched it so many times as a kid.

2. Miami Blues
3. Thelma & Louise (wife's fave)

bigblackshed - this may be the 'films I've forgotten about and need somebody to remind me of thread' but is also turning into 'films you've never seen all the way through' thread - 'sound of music' - CHB.
I kid myself into 'social connectivity' by watching a film off the TV, instead of 'remembering' to watch it from DVD.

Perhaps I need a STW 'film club': to include movies I bought/meant to watch - but never got around to 😕

😆 yeah, you know the scene in BTTF2 where Doc is explaining to Marty why they are in an alternate 1985 on the chalk board in Docs storm damaged workshop. I used to recite the dialogue to that scene to my poor Mum and Dad when I was a nipper. Bored them rigid I did. I still remember the script to that bit now. 🙄

Army of Darkness

Never heard of this film!

AKA, The Evil Dead 3.

Mine, probably The Princess Bride, Aliens, Escape From New York. Maybe.

Seen Star Wars a lot (obviously), Highlander, BTTF, The Terminator, most of the Brat Pack and related movies, Wierd Science et al, Ghostbusters, probably more.

I never seem to watch the end of films these days. All the ones on before the watershed are rubbish and the ones on after the watershed are after I head to bed, so I just end up watching the first few minutes and then leave.

I've seen the first 30 minutes of Die Hard 4.0 three times now. Please don't tell me how it ends.

I'll always watch The Princess Bride if it is on though

Top 2 are easy:

Jaws
Aliens

Had them both on VHS and literally wore the tapes out.

Number 3 is harder could be any from:
Die Hard
Braveheart
The Matrix
Blade Runner
Star Wars
Life of Brian
Ghostbusters
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Back to the Future

I don't watch my favourite films that often anymore as apprantly "I seen that already" is a reason not to watch a film!

The Queen Latifa version was the only film I've ever walked out of! Only went as I love the originals (Taxi 2 trumps 1, I reckon) and I had free tickets!

I'm amazed that no-one else has said Top Gun. I can pretty much copy it word for word.

And why have so many people got the Princess Bride? I've never seen it.

What I would love is to know actually how many times I've watched all the films I've watched - I think there would be lots I've seen all or most of 20-30 times.

Used to endlessly watch Paris Texas & Jesus of Montreal too, but I'm over that now

erm...

can't think of any films I've deliberately watched all the way through more than a couple of times

Point Break might be one of them though. And Blade Runner. BTTF maybe. The Birds?
isn't it amazing even with a wall/bookshelf full of DVDs, how many have you actually watched more than once?
