Yo.
So, for reasons, I'm keen to find out what is the busiest route in Scotland's national cycle pathway network.
Hit me up with your anecdotal evidence.
Rob
Probably one of the bit's going through Glasgow or Edinburgh, Glasgow to balloch or maybe the canal over Edinburgh? Don't know anything about the east.
From an Edin & off main highway perspective, I'll offer either the North Edinburgh cycle path running from trinity to Gorgie or the Union canal into the west end being the busiest for bikes. The union canal has a cycle counter showing how many bikes use it each day too....
Strava heat map would show busiest wouldn't they?
The section going west along the Clyde from Glasgow Green past the High Court and towards Central Station must be in with a shout. I sometimes parked there for work for a few minutes in the morning. There was a constant stream.

Sampling bias?
Interesting. The north Edinburgh to Gorgie one was on the radar. Any more around the central belt?
I'd have thought the Meadows in Edinburgh must be pretty busy as well
There's a cycle count meter installed a year ago that sits at the start of Glasgow green as you leave the city centre. I'll see what it says tonight on the way past, its a busy route.
If it's just a short section you are referring to then that bit through the Meadows and past the old Infirmary in Edinburgh would be my #1 guess.
Contact Sustrans Scotland and ask?
It appears all 14 counters installed in Scotland relay data to a master totem at Scottish Government’s Victoria Quay office in Leith, Edinburgh.
2009 data suggest Rodney St tunnel Edinburgh far and away the busiest point on the network. 171k per year.

No doubt someone will know how to access the data more easily, as I cannot find it easily on my phone. But, I believe you can access online the live numbers for the automatic cycle counters.
The link below gives “The dataset includes bike counts collected on a hourly-basis between 2007 and 2016, from 48 off-road and on-road counters installed in Edinburgh”

It is hard to imagine that it might be somewhere outside Glasgow or Edinburgh, unless it’s somewhere like Glentress, which I don’t suppose it is.
We have one of those counters in stirling. Prams and baby buggies set it off and last time I looked it was in the thousands per day, so obviously figures are poor data.
Strava Metro could give you some useful data, if you pay for it. Though yes, it will have a bias towards certain types of cyclists/types of journeys etc. https://metro.strava.com/
Spokes do regular counts on a few roads, not sure if it includes any off road routes. They have links to data from a variety of other sources. http://www.spokes.org.uk/documents/papers-documents/spokes-traffic-counts/
middle meadow walk is several hundred thousand a year IIRC from the counter
