Since your "a friend made the best pop album of the last decade" nonsense, I don't click on your links as:

a)you have appalling taste in music
b)life's too short

Could be worse....could be Fat White Family or Sleaford Mods (although the one with Leftfield was a bit ace).
(Edit-after actually listening to it.....notsomuchreally)

Wow, that was dull. They also seem to be about as controversial as it being dark at night

I'm sure they are very good at what they do but unfortunately it's not to my taste but do wish them well.
Maybe if they toned down the controversial bit they might go further.
It's nice to see musicians not compromising with their hard core stance.

The music equivalent of a digestive biscuit that's been licked by the dog and found under the sofa a year later.

Hopeless, they're not even very good musicians, the guitarist is poor. If they enjoy it then fair enough but tell them not to waste too much money trying to make it big.

I thought it was ok, but nothing special.

Hardly controversial, though - he didn't even do a swear!

Jings, did you hear that too? That strange Ayrshire-but-not-Ayrshire pronunciation of the lead vocalist. Not a bad sound though.

Got to 50 seconds. Not my cup of tea. Too slow, dreary and painfully hard for me to listen to.

If we're tagging mates bands. My old drummer is now bassist in dialects, who bucked the trend by having a great 2016! This is from a live session they did in Canada.

I wondered if that, perhaps, was the controversial bit.

Beige against the machine.

Thanks, I'm going to use that in the future!
At least the OP is consistent in his posting of really ordinary music.
I'm sure they think they're doing something deep and meaningful, referencing rivers flowing is, quite frankly, pretty shallow, and hardly original.
Yeah, beige.

I'd rather watch this band any time, not in any way 'controversial', but far more interesting!

If it is him then what a complete bellend.

If it's not him, then that bloke in the link is a complete bellend.

Controversial?

Is that due to the blatant plagiarism of the work of David Brent?

I have no idea what could make a band controversial in this day and age, and I don't think that first band possess that particular quality... But in the spirit of posting a band that you know personally..

When the lead singer and his brother were nippers, his mum used to sometimes call me up in a bit of a two and eight and ask me to bash their heads together

These guys used to live 2 houses down from us in Acton

Often up late getting drunk and stoned, in their tiny garden quite a good laugh

I was a bit disappointed when I heard their actual music, still way better than the OP stuff

So we have cycles of:

C F C F C...

C G F C...

Bm F#(m) D E...

at 85bpm (5bpm too slow for comfort IMO)

After a few minutes playing along I started replacing the C with Cadd9 at some points and C/D/E power chords at others to brighten it up.

As there's no solo or lead I thought about what I'd do if I joined in. Pentatonic noodles on the 5th fret for the cycles that start in C and 7th fret for the cycles that start in Bm work well. Slides on the low E and A strings and bends/pull offs on the G and B sound add a country feel.

That's Ruth, she also plays Autoharp.
Alan Miller, Hannah, the singer/cellist's dad, who made Hannah's cello, is currently finishing off an Autoharp with a beatbox built in, which will make it a sort of traditional Omnichord; looking forward to hearing that at some point.
And no, I don't really know the band, I've only met them once when they played an instore at a small record shop in town, and I spent some time chatting to Allan when he was selling his guitars etc at our folk festival earlier in the year, before I discovered he was Hannah's dad.
Love their music though, it appeals to both my folk and prog inclinations.
Their drummer's dad was drummer with Gentle Giant for a while, which helps, as well. 😀

Since we are all at it 🙂

Not a band as such. Just my young nephew, alone in his bedroom with his bits and bobs. Probably a bit slow for most but I reckon there is considerable talent here. To do this in one hit is pretty impressive.
