Just wondering if anyone has any advice on where to shop for the best deals without walking round all the banks and building society's.
Currently on halifax deal of around 6.something percent which a quick online check seems pretty crappy

If it's a simple mortgage you're after and understand all the different products (fixed, tracker, offset etc) and are happy with the underlying lingo then any of the comparison sites.

If your mortgage has complicating factors and / or you're not up to speed on all the products and don't know which will be best for you then speak to a mortgage broker.

Edit: and yes- all things being equal 6+% is a very high rate.

I'd wait for a few days - the BoE is widely expected to drop base rates to 0.25% this lunchtime. Give it a few days for new products to be launched and rates adjusted accordingly, then seek out an independent mortgage broker. They will give you a good market overview...
