I've used London & Country before
Carl Swift (non-fee charging broker):

Nicola Trott at Cobens: 0203 301 2954
Used Nicola for our purchase last year, highly recommended.
Neil at Brunton Miller. He was no fee for us and I think will be for most.
Brokers cover their costs by what they get from the mortgage provider to make it 'no fee'. However to put 'no fee' upfront makes me slightly wary. My thinking is there might be a good deal that the broker steers clear of because they don't get enough kick back from the mortgage provider to cover their costs.
I'd happily pay a fee to a broker if overall I get a better deal, all costs considered, i.e. mortgage setup fee and broker fee
+1 for London & Country - they've won lots of awards too...
currently using London and Country, very happy with them
OP, where are you located? I used an independent broker in Cardiff whom I would recommend to anyone.
Near Manchester
