The price is because it was one of the first autonomous vehicles.
My mate had one. You could turn the steering wheel at speed but it would just plough straight ahead. True vehicular autonomy.
Very sturdy - despite leaping kerbs, numerous hedge and wall breaches, that steel bumper just sprung back into place.
The biggest problem with that was that everything/one that was in the back ended up in the front which was awkward because usually a speedy retreat was necessary and sometimes the people were entangled couples en flagrante. He had no tax, no insurance, and these incidents usually happened in the dark small hours so we had about 3-5 minutes before humans stumbled outside their houses.
It also had anti lock brakes. They were so good at anti-lock, the best way to stop the vehicle was to turn the ignition off while in gear.
It also might have had something to do with his herbal cigarette habit though...
