Just finished watching it, could someone please explain.
Did the clone#2 keep clone#1 alive to then swap body in the crash so he could escape/ return to earth and leave clone#3 in his place?
Confused, but enjoyed it I think!

healthy Sam wants to send sick Sam home, so creates 3rd Sam to place into harvester. but sick Sam knows he's dying, so insists that healthy Sam goes home instead. The 'rescue' team are expecting to find a healthy and sick Sam, not three, so they won't suspect that healthy Sam has escaped... 3rd Sam will act as if nothing has happened.
