Anyone know of a flight comparison website where you can specify a departure and destination city, specify some other parameters and then give you a TOTAL cost of the flights?

Eg depart from "City A" on "dd/mm/yyyy", "+/- 4 days", to destination "City B" but include other airports within "X hrs" drive time AND include price for "extra legroom/emergency exit seat" AND any cost for "carrying bikes"?

Everything I've used so far you've got to actually go through the entire process of booking a flight, including entering all passenger details BEFORE the fee of exit row seats is revealed, and still it isn't clear whether a bike can be considered as regular checked baggage (assuming packed bike is below 23kg and bag/box dimensions are below their limits)....

So, with a lot of variables, it's a pain in the arse to get even a relatively small number of options.

On a related note, KLM specifically state bikes can't be considered as checked bags and have to be paid for separately (the charge for which seems hidden to me...).

So, has anyone just packed a bike in a "non-bike specific" bag/box and just got it on a KLM flight as checked bag anyway?

I ran into this so ended up using a travel agent who had the knowledge and access that allowed him to do this.

Seemed the only way to me.

It doesn't cost extra

I gave up trying to fathom KLM's system, I think you actually have to book and pay for your ticket before you can even see if they have space for a bike on your flight!

China Eastern and China Southern both very good with bikes, as are Virgin, BA and LATAM.

Emirates much more expensive but the food is better, same applies to Singapore. Easy Jet are ok but it's very expensive (Edinburgh - Nice more expensive than BA/LATAM Edinburgh - Heathrow - Sau Paulo -Campo Grande for instance)

Anyway, hope that helps you narrow it down a bit

Sky Scanner can do this but you get annoying hotel ideas but you can choose whole countries. Kayak gets close but near by airports must be fairly near so won’t allow search by country.

My sister works for Trail Finders, they do loads of bespoke holidays and trips https://www.trailfinders.com/. If I'm booking a trip, I generally check with her first to see if she can get better deals on flights. If there's a hand luggage only discount flight to be had, then it's cheaper for me to book direct with the airline, but generally if I need hold luggage she can get a deal that's as good as I can book (plus, it's less of a PITA, and you don't spend all the time faffing and worrying if you've put the right passenger details in etc etc).
