My old Tog24 convertible jacket/gilet windproof is dying (and has always been too short), Montane don't make the Dyno with enough wind resistance anymore and the Montane Litespeed doesn't hand have pockets...
In a moon-on-a-stick way, I'd like:
- properly wind resistant
- long body (rules out most cycling tops)
- hand pockets on chest/above rucksack belt
- hood
- zip-off arms
I use an Endura soft shell with zip off arms. I tend to use it mostly as a windproof gilet nowadays.
Edit: it’s an Endura Convert jacket, but I’m not sure they’re available today.
Endura Convert
I had one of the old waterproof versions.
I think I'm going to end up with a Litespeed, it's the obvious thing.
Litespeed and use trouser pockets?. I love Montane kit, fast becoming my go to again after a brief hiatus.
Edit - doesn't appear to have zip off arms either..
Older Litespeed? I've had a couple, my current one has hand pockets. Not sure about the current available version
No zip off arms but I've always found things like that more of a faff than it's worth
What about ME's Echo hooded top. Doesn't have zip-off arms though.
I have the jacket and really rate it, good windproofing.

Another option could be Rab's Kinetic jacket, a waterproof stretch fabric which breaths really well, like a windproof shell, just also pretty waterproof. Love mine.
