Hi all
Very random question - sorry!
I work in a small office with 10 of us. We have a tea fund which we pay into with cash.
Very few of us have cash now and wondering if there is a more modern way of doing this with maybe a prepay credit card? Difficulty is different people buy the tea coffee biscuits etc so not sure if a prepay card would work?
Any solutions that I haven’t seen out there?
Paypal money pools is a free way to amass a kitty, but if different people are buying the tea and biccies requires someone to run the pool and reimburse people.
Just get 1 person to open a bank account and have everyone pay in their weekly amount, then use the card to buy the stuff.
Keep the card with the tea and coffee.
We just had a Paypal pool but ... although you can contribute anonymously people chose not to, or didn't realise you can, and the first few set a precedent that made it hard to contribute less ...
Worked out well for the recipient !!
Get the boss to buy it?
How much tea do 10 people consume?
Not enough to cause a problem when it comes to p11d time 🤣
I would stick with the biscuit tin.
Monzo allows your to split bills so if everyone had a monzo then whoever buys the tea can then say these 9 other people need to contribute £x which will come out of their monzo. i'm sure others have that function as well (not the big banks, they lag on these things)
If you all trust each other and one person has a Monzo account, just set up a tea and biscuits pot and send out the occasional payment link. Means the 'administrator' has to do the buying, but they are probably going to the shop for somthing anyway.....
Have you considered trying cash?
No cash no drinking.
I’ve used an app called splitwise. You create a group with your workmates on it. When someone buys stuff they log on the app, you can split the cost evenly between everyone or just a select group. Eg someone drinks tea but no milk. End of the month you can calculate totals and it tells you who’s spent what. So you can either use that to say person x has spent the least so it’s your turn next time. Or the app will balance everything out and say person x owes person z £5 to make everything equal again and you can do bank transfer or Paypal etc.
I think prepaid card that you all chip in £10 every now and then is easiest. Every time someone pops out to buy something they just take the card.
TransferWise allow you to have a free bank account and a MasterCard debit card. You can transfer money into like a normal bank account, cost is zero.
You know how technology is meant to make your life simpler?
You're doing it wrong...
Either get the cash from everyone or write a list and when it's Stringy Bob's turn, Stringy Bob goes to the shop and gets the stuff.
