I'd quite like to get a modern dcamera that is similar to the Olympus XA, as they were so good for carrying around, and produced good quality pictures.
Is there anything out there nowadays that doesn't have gazillions of modes, complicated controls or stupid chrome trim but ideally will have a separate good quality separable flash ?

No idea I'm afraid but I loved my xa. I like the look of the fixed lens fuji's, for me a 35mm lens is just about perfect.

Probably not. Fixed lens and viewfinder are rare.

But if you describe your priorities I'll try and pint you in the correct direction. I'm really rather boring on cameras.

Whats your priority, black body, viewfinder, simple , picture quality, price?

Oh I assume you mean digital. If its film you can have my Olympus miju for £35 quid
