@Drac - can't figure out how to PM you so unfortunately I have to punt this here.
You closed the palestine thread and threatened bans on anyone opening a new one, on the premise that someone accused someone of potentially being antisemitic.
The result is we're not allowed to even discuss one of the most significant conflicts in that region in modern times. 2.3 million people have had their water supply cut off and a ground offensive is massing in one of the worst humanitarian disasters we've seen for a long time.
The thread was hardly a cesspit of outrageous jew-hatred (far from it). And it seems to have been deliberately derailed / put out of existence by a single troll that created an account that, with hindsight, looks to have created the account to push the moderators to stifle what was, until then, a reasonably abuse-free exchange of different views.
For your consideration: if you feel it necessary perhaps you should ban that newly-created account from posting in that thread - and open it so discussion of the conflict can continue?
Right now, it seems that it's a bit easy for newcomers to fling some mud to get discussion they don't like shut down by making moderators knee-jerk into over-draconian measures?
I suspect that its because of the time and effort it takes to watch and clean up such threads that it was closed.
This is a private playground and the owners make the rules and the Mods enforce them
I don't think there is a huge team of moderators on here watching every post.

Yes, I don't envy the mods and threads on subjects like that, almost a full time job moderating it.
