Any good suggestions? Protect my bubble seems reasonably priced compared to O2's £12 a month, how quick do they replace?
Home contents insurance same as bikes
put it in a decent case and treat it like the 500 quid device it is - not a toy.
^^ Mr Trailrat talks sense^^
Insurance is there to protect not to be taken advantage of- look after the phone and you will not need it - no doubt some one will be along to say how their life depended on it

Insurance is there for when things go wrong, yes look after it, yes treat it properly but also get cover and use it if needed (on home insurance for me)
Yes I agree but there is a definitive difference between it being there to help and assist when things go wrong beyond your control and being nonchalant and not caring ( perhaps not in this instance) but there is an attitude in some people that insurance is there to be taken advantage of at the drop of a hat(and no I don't need to change my aquaintances)
'Free' with my bank account. I say free as I pay £25 p/m on a joint account but get full AA with everything for me and Mrs Danny, insurance for 3 mobile phones, full WW travel insurance with winter sports (not that I do winter sports but hey), home emergency cover etc.
Could pay £10 p/m I think for lesser breakdown and travel insurance but still with the mobiles.
Look carefully at any excess applicable - I know most insurances charge between an excess of between £50-100 for an iPhone for example.
Check what exactly is covered also - leaving it on a table in a pub for example is not (almost universally I think).
Cheers

I've never had insurance and never had a problem in the 20 years of having mobiles - but my kids...
But its easy, they take better care when the option if the cheapest mobile possible (ie one of my old Nokia's) as a replacement 🙂
Seems a waste of money to me, especially when you can get good sim-only deals for less than £10, on a out-of-contract phone.
my comment was more to do with people - go into a bar/coffeeshop and first thing they seem to do when you walk round is stick their phone on the table - they aint using it , its just there.
people who strap their massive delicate non waterproof phone to their handlebars as a gps
people who stand over a body of water using their phone and dropping it into their toilets.....
Working in construction my phone is getting full of dust, (even with an otterbox cover). I worry if it gets damaged. I do my best to look after it but yes its a £500 bit of kit!
Sounds like what you need there is a 'disposable' work phone.

Mine's covered by my bank, like dannybgoode, but it would be a royal pain to have to go through the hassle of getting a replacement and the insurance sorted out.
I have mine in an armoured waterproof case, attached to an Animal lanyard, so even if I drop it it's unlikely to go anywhere. I was on Clevedon Pier, with my iP4, taking photos, when I realised, looking down at the decking, that I could see the water through gaps wide enough for my phone to go through. My paranoia about dropping it went up about 100%.
It means I can take photos in the rain as well as not worrying about it dropping into a rock pool if I slip when I'm at the seaside.
