So my contract is up and I'm looking for a new phone.
My main issue is storage. I currently have a 16GB Iphone 5. The issue I have is that I am continually running out of storage. I don't have a huge number of photos on it and not a huge amount of music but I am constantly getting the storage full message.
The rest of my family are Iphone users so family sharing etc is useful but, as I pay for both my own phone and my son's, two monthly tarrifs on two 32GB phones are the guts of £100 per month.
Is there any way around the storage problem without having to go for 32 GB phones?
I think you'll struggle. Of course you can keep clearing it but there is a sweet spot of about 20gb which makes a 16gb stay pretty full. I would consider a switch to android. The sharing is pretty compatible between devices. You'll pick up a 32gb model cheaply or one that takes an SD card for even less. You can buy the phone outright then get a super cheap contact or payg

Mrs_oab just renewed/haggled/threatened to leave so has iPhone 5se 128gb for £14.99 a month with 5gb data and 500mins/txt
Refurbed iphones can be purchased cheap enough via well known sellers on the bay.
A 64GB SE for example just costs a smidgen more than a £100 last time I looked.
What about going to giffgaff in the short term? Sim only, no contracts. Free calls and text to other giffgaff users.
Delete the apps you don't use, clear the cache.
A couple of months on there saving and you can buy a new phone outright

It's the phone storage which fills. I have previously owned a Samsung and the bit about just going out and buying an SD card was very attractive. Had a huge amount of music on there.
Don't understand why you seem to think a higher capacity phone means a higher tariff? iPhone SE seems an obvious option anyway.
Can't you just get an android phone with shit loads of storage for a fraction of the cost?
Just choose the “good condition” in tabs as this brings cost down significantly and unlocked version seems obvs choice. Then choose a cheap payg sim like 3 (three) or giffgaff.
