I think I already know the answer to this, but I'll ask first.

My other half has an Xperia Z1 mobile. The USB / charging port has been knackered for quite a while (relatatively common issue, we can still charge it using a charging cradle which uses different contacts just for charging). Its now stuck in an "optimising apps" screen and then the phone just shuts down. You then try and get it to boot again and it does the same thing.

Theres plenty of charge in the battery, so I think either the phone or the OS has an issue. I can't get it to boot into recovery, so is it game over for the phone? If i could actually get it to boot I'd just want to back up the contacts and text messages as thats all she is missing (I think).

Any thoughts please?

i had this a while ago and went to the android forums for help.  cant remember exactly how i solved it but i think the trick was to eventually get into my settings and wipe the cache somehow.  a quick google suggests maybe trying these?

like i say i got round it in the end, altho if i ever do have to reboot i think it still happens, its just i never reboot really, i just recharge overnight no matter what percentage im on.  and when it does happen i just leave it and eventually it does finish 'optimizing' the app(s) and everythings fine again.
