You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My HTC one m7 is getting very glitchy and slow. I've tried resets and clearing stuff off but need to face the fact that it might have had its day.
As I keep phones longer than average, I'm thinking pixel 2 as it's supported for 3 years and has the cleanest slickest software.
However, found some YouTube stuff if a guy who does some destructive physical testing of new handsets and the Galaxy S8 looks a lot more robust and durable than the Pixel.

Invest in a really good hard case over paying a premium on the phone....
(Unless you really want features....)
On that note - I really really rate the Mous phone cases. I got my first one based on their admittedly over-the-top kickstarter campaign (dropping them from bridges and stuff), but have since equipped both my daughters with their phone cases too. A bit more expensive than usual eBay/Amazon case, but touch wood we haven’t had a cracked screen in two years, and both my daughters are a renowned for finding the hardest surfaces to drop their phones on to.
You can't beat buying a quality case. Otterbox Defender series are tough.
I'm okay at looking after the handset. After 4 years or so, this HTC looks pretty much brand new.
Maybe one of these:
There's a newer one, Armor X, with better display but different spec.
