iPhone is old tech and low spec compared to other phones. I'm a big fan of Apple computers and software but their phones are nothing compared to Samsung.

Had the iPhones from the start and my last one was the 5S and got tired of all the apple crap and shite battery life and now got the Sony Experia Z3 Compact and its way better.

Can't argue with fact based logic like that.

I got a Huawei "Honor 6". Much cheaper than equivalent Samsung/Sony/whatever and seems pretty good. Battery lasts for ~2 days.

Galaxy S6 would be my choice, I've recently swapped from an iPhone to a Oneplus One and it's good.

The S6 will be ideal, especially if the reports of being able to disable the bloatware are true.

If it's not too big and you can afford it wait for the SGS6.

Never owned and maybe never will own an Apple product but this is absolute bullshine.

Personally I have a windows phone and its such a hateful thing I would burn it if it wasnt bought as a gift...

Its an unfathomable box of dispair...

I had an iPhone 5 and it was very good, the 5S isn't much different to that.

Took deliver of iPhone 6+ last week and iPhone 6 yesterday.

The 6+ is far too big for a personal phone I find, lovely screen, quick and nice thin to handle but it's massive.

The 6 is a great happy medium between the 5 and the 6+, the screen is fantastic, fast system, very ergonomic a big step up from the 5.

Samsung and others do great phones too, there's not much between them now but after the appalling Galaxy S3 the wife had I'd not be tempted by a one soon. Plus I've got a lot of other Apple products so would be a bit of pain to start switching.

What's wrong with your Windows phone, Rickmeister? I've changed from an iphone to a Nokia 930 recently and I'm impressed so far. Plus, you don't have the hateful iTunes and I-this and I-that crap.

I stupidly went from a Sony Experia Z, which I loved to the iphone 6.
Camera was excellent on it, and the android system was far better, although less choice of apps I found.
iPhone has nothing special about it at all, just looks nice.
The 6's camera I have found is pretty poor when compared to my old Sony. Bad choice and now I am stuck with it for 2 years.

I too have just moved to a (work supplied) 930. In many ways it's excellent (hardware is very good) but in some ways it (Windows phone 8.1) feels like Android from 5 years ago - some great innovations but not yet a polished finished product. Blackberry 10 felt more finished, and that was buggy as hell.

Nexus 5 (or a 6 if you have big paws). Very fast, capable, stable.

Do the Samsungs still ship with loads of bloatware? How much can be removed?

O2 were* doing the Z3 Compact for £240 with a free Chromecast (£12 TCB). I paid £10 for an unlock code off ebay and my 3 sim is working perfectly (there are ways round paying to unlock if you can be bothered). Very impressed with it. Good spec phone but not stupidly big.
*it might have expired now
EDIT: O2 phones ship with some bloatware, but not necessarily a bad thing; the O2 Priority App still works even with a 3 SIM, result!

My windows phone suits me fine.
I use my phone for voice calls (yes, really!), texts, browsing the internet, taking pictures and videos and as a sat nav.
It does all these things brilliantly (especially the sat nav, which works offline). As usual for a Nokia, the camera is superb.
It doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of the latest android phones, but I had a Samsung and found I didn't use 90% of it- it just slowed the phone down and flattened the battery.
Think carefully about what you actually use your phone for, rather than how many fancy gizmos it has.

Just ordered a Z3 compact with 2gb of double speed 4G, 100 minutes and unlimited text for £24/month and £80 upfront.

Had a Z for a couple of years and like the interface and quality of the phone. The waterproofness is great when chucking it in a jersey pocket etc.

I halve a Nokia 920 running Windows 8.1 and it is good. There is a lack of Apps but the phone quality is good, sat nav is bundled. Camera is excellent
