is there anything i can buy to access the net on a "pay as you go" basis?
if there is what do you recommend (bearing in mind i go on wednesday)?

thanks

I'm sure that there are a few wifi hot spots in hotels in Inners if you must get a fix.

I went and bought an O2 PAYG dongle and sim from Argos for £20. Plug it in (works fine even on Ubuntu), visit their portal, pay via credit card (£2 per day, which includes 500Mb of mobile and/or unlimited wi-fi at Openzone etc), done. No need to top up in advance or to use credit within a certain time. It was the cheapest and most flexible deal for 'rare' use.

The Tontine in Peebles has Wi-fi, and may even let dogs in if you are lucky.

we used to stay in the tontine but now we have the dog we are staying in a cottage
tontine only allow dogs if they stay in the room - not in public areas!
