Has anyone got any firm recommendations for mobile battery back-ups? Off to Afan this weekend and it occurred to me that my phone won't stay charged for a whole day with various mapping apps running.

I've been looking at the Mophie Powerstation Mini but at £50 it's quite expensive.

Not that it should matter much but I have an iPhone 5. Thanks in advance.

Anker seem to get good reviews.

I keep meaning to buy this one:

but never get round to it!

4x the capacity of that Mophie powerstation mini and you can select higher capacity ones from the drop down. 10000mAh should be enough for 4 full charges though, I think.

I got one of these for camping. Good for about 6 full charges. Works really well. Charges my tablet as well (a couple of times). I just keep it in the car.

I can recommend one of these. Still fairly expensive, but good quality.

Cheers guys I was looking at the Anker models but some poor reviews had me pause, think I'll give one a go and see how it lasts.

I got a 5200mAh PowerGen one off Amazon - under £20 and very decent charge capacity -- http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005VBNW2G/ref=gno_cart_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3H9QVQ3445GSN

Smudge of this parish and mtbbatteries.co.uk is launching something I think. That's where my money would go.

Get on the eBay and see what the latest ones on there are. I've had several over the years from different companies (for my solar experiments and other stuff) and all have been fine.

You could buy a case that has a battery built in to expand the battery life.

Some cases that bolt to the bike have optional battery packs.

I've just got an Anker 10,000 mAh battery, only used it once, so far, to recharge my iPad while I was using it, which it did quite happily. It replaced a 5500mAh battery I got from eBay a couple of years or so ago, and which I've been using since without any issues. The Anker cost me £25, from Amazon, and there's a 20,000mAh version going for £75 as well. Certainly worth a punt at £25.

Yep, went with the Anker 10,000 mAh model. It's only job is to keep me from running out of juice during or after a ride when away from mains for the best part of a day, we'll see how it goes over the weekend.

Thanks for your input STW.
