Just seen fast and furious 6 trailer, cheesy as hell but looks great fun, but spotted a Escort Mk1 being used. just before a Mustang is crushed by a tank. My dream car when I was younger the mexico version from memory. Also spotted a Jensen Interceptor

I saw that trailer at the weekend and also noted that rather nice looking Escort - which I thought was a Mexico. What I'd really like though is a Mk1 Escort BDA.

I think they made 6 of those escorts over here, then shipped them to the States for the film... Sooo want!

The last film was great IMO, lots of stoopid fun & best of the bunch so far. I have high hopes for this one!

I watched the trailer last night, huge dumb fun. Really nice to see a bunch of Brit cars being used, too.

My neighbour a few doors down has one, it's bloody lovely and cost him a small packet to build up. Cracking example though.

No no pics as it's locked up on his garage.

Escorts and Cortinas; Mk I & II, terrific cars, then it all seemed to go horribly wrong. I've always wanted a MkI Lotus Cortina, still looks good after all these years.

That blue Escort up there ^^; bloody lovely!

My b*stard brother sold his Mk1 RS2000 two years ago for £1800. Ok, it hadn't turned a wheel for 14 years, but it only had 45K on the clock and spare Magnesium sump and clutch bellhousing, plus loads of other spares. T*at, I haven't spoken to him since, I've wanted that car since 1975 when he got it second-hand.

When I was a kid mk1 mex was our family car, roll cage the works, dad used to also rally family car at weekends and late nights in the week. Sometimes we couldn't go shopping as dad had broken said family car 😀

Awesome car and will be even more awesome after we put the 5 speed gearbox in, lightened flywheel, replace the 40's with 45's, bigger valve head, alloy radiator and 100 other things I can't remember.

A bit of T-cut will sort that out 😀

Great, another chance to post this!

[img] [/img]

Seriously though, I used to frequent a number of classic car forums and the Ford boys have been frothing at the mouth about this film for at least two years now. Some people can't wait to see it, others want everyone involved to be hanged for smashing a few escorts.

Prices of escorts has gone up so much over the past 10 years, in fact most classics have gone out of my price bracket now

A friend bought a rolling Mk1 chassis for a few grand about 7 years ago, got it walnut blasted, with the intention of building a rally car, then left it to rust in his garage 🙁

Girlfriends brother had one almost identical to that.

Horrible apparently, a case of never drive your heroes. Engine was borderline uncontrollable, and the suspension was so stiff you could park on a dropped kerb and be on 3 wheels.

Last year my brother had a MK1 Escort which we sold through Pistonheads as we didn't use it it competition any more. It went to Fast and Furious.

It was a bonkers spec with Quaife straight cut race box, Manx race engine etc. Shame to see it go, but needs must and all that.

I haven't seen the film yet, but there's a photo of it on the net in the workshop. (3rd from the left on the bottom photo)

Love the Escorts, but the Viperceptor...
That, is ****ing nuts! Part of me is saying, 'damn, it's so ugly, it should have been put down at birth', part is thinking 'damn, that's just the coolest thing going!'
Latter wins. 😀
