Just reading some reviews and a lot of them bang on about how good they are for content creators , but I’m not, I just want a good compact camera.

Any Recommendations ?

Compacts are mirrorless to be pedantic

But all the big names, canon, nikon, Sony, lumix have great options for compact cameras.

Worth looking at Park Cameras for some of their bestsellers

For compacts, I'd always say go for the highest spec Sony or Panasonic your budget will get you. You can get some cracking little cameras from them. Even better bang for your buck if you don't want/need a manual mode or 4k video.

Ok, is it for genreal ever day pics? or anything specific. Interchangeable lenses?

I have 2 different cameras for different things. My main body is a Sony A7iv. Love it. I do a lot of Landscape Astrophotography and Sports and everything inbetween. It seems to do everything i want very well. BUT i would never recommend this type of camera for daily duties.

For that i have a second hand Sony RX100iii. Amazing little point and shoot that can be fully customised. Again if this is too expensive pop onto ebay and just find a second hand lumix or Sony point and shoot. There are not any real poor ones from the last few years as far as i am aware. But i am a bit out of touch with most things out of the Sony bubble.

I am a big fan of buying second hand.

The lumix TZ range are excellent for a compact although the later ones are a bit bulkier now. 30x optical zoom can give good results in the right conditions but not always. Very customisable. I have heard that they are dropping compacts as mobile phones have taken over for point and shoot. I disagree on this point so have just upgraded my old TZ to a newer version before they are unobtainable. The Lumix cameras also have a viewfinder which can be handy. I do find that my iPhone does give much better results in low light.

I've got an immaculate RX100Va for sale on eBay. (24-70mm)  the newer version has a much longer lens (200mm) 35mm equiv.

Fantastic little camera for travel. Slightly saddled by being a bit too small and having not great dynamic range for video and poor I.S. None of this too much of an issue for stills. Very flexible and comprehensive features though.

Still on the compact-ish side I've also got a Sony A7C full frame. Which is hard to fault and fixes all the issues I have with the RX100 but is quite a bit bigger.

However I don't need both and I'm keeping the A7C as a do-all camera. New version imminent.

I've also got a Panasonic S5 which is quite chunky to be honest.

The A7C is the best overall performer v size that I know of. Only missing 10bit video.
