Starting a new job where I will be doing quite a bit of business mileage, which I can claim at 11p a mile and then claim the rest in my tax return.
There are quite a few apps out there that use GPS to track this automatically, can anyone recommend a particular app?
Ta!
I use an app called Expensify for all my business related expenses, such as mileage, meals, hotels etc. It has smart scanning built in for receipts. And mileage can be done off the clock, by GPS or maps. Depending how much depth you want to go into, it can produce reports for the job, week, month.
I work freelance, so have different rules set up for different clients, at the end of a job, I create a report and email a break down off all my expenses along with my invoice.
11p/mile isn't much though... that will bearly cover your fuel costs...
I just ask Google maps to track my location on work phone. At end of month log into Google account, set up filter for last month and bobs your uncle, there is every journey I made, with mileage at click of mouse. Fill in claim...

I use Bizxpensetracker and it has an option (in-app purchase) for GPS tracking of work trips.
Else if you're telling it where a journey was to/from then it works out how far that is (I think it's the best route from Apple Maps) and offers to fill in the distance.
11p a mile?! At 115p/gallon (not far off average right now) you'll need to be getting at least 47mpg to even pay for fuel at that. It's not enough. Renegotiate.
That is a good point speeder - OP are you contracting, as you say the rest can be claimed through tax return (upto 45ppm)
