Has anyone spotted any high altitude V formations of migrating geese? Is this the right time of year?
Loads, for the past month or thereabouts.
Thanks. I'll keep my eyes to the skies!
Yep, up here in Fife they've been cackling for a couple of weeks and my collie pup has been barking at them.
I typically hear them before I see them. Had two lots flying over on Thursday afternoon, possibly heading for one of the local lochs.
Saw some over the Exe a week or so ago.
I saw an amazing flock of low flying storks heading to Africa the other day. Enormous but graceful birds in flight.
Yeah, tons here in west Lancs. they are in and out of Martin Mere all day. Evenings are best to see em though.
Most years I see lots and I assumed they were heading for the avian heaven of The Wash. There's hundreds of Canada geese at Eyebrook reservoir but from what I've read they don't migrate so maybe they're just flying over to Rutland Water, a bit less romantic.
I was stood on top of the dam at Bewl water reservoir on Friday, doing a survey for work. Beautiful blue sky day and a V of about 30 Canada geese swept over the dam about 10m high so close I felt like I could reach out and touch the closest one, it was marvellous. Between that and a territorial pheasant chasing the project manager around flapping and pecking at him while he ran away squealing like a schoolgirl it was a pretty good day as work goes!

The best site days include wildlife and others misfortune.
Skeen's coming in non stop now it seems on the east coast of Scotland. Started about 6 weeks ago in dribs and drabs, slowly getting bigger. Great time of year, the sound is fantastic
