Anyone using the 3 MiFi device and got any comments on performance/practicality/usability etc, especially while moving?
Yep, use mine a lot around the country, I find it very useful, performance is decent enough for internet surfing and email but I wouldnt want to download a movie using one
Overall it just works
Actually one thing - the battery is used up quite quickly so get a car charger
Also, you can buy them Network unlocked so you are not tied to 3
I have one, wouldn't be without it now. The connection is pretty good when I use it on trains. Better than using my phone as a hotspot (phone is an HTC on Vodafone)
I paid DCUnlocker less than a tenner for a code to unlock it in case I want to use another sim, most likely abroad.
The battery doesn't last a whole day, I'd guess at about seven hours solid use but it will depend a lot on signal strength and use.
We live in the middle of nowhere and over the winter my mother in law was living on site in her camper. She had one of these devices and I used it lots. I thought it was great - it worked for starters, and normal internet browsing was good.

brilliant bit of kit......... just wish I could find it 🙁
I have an australian Vodafone one as it was a cheap way to get internet on a camper trip last year. Easy to DIY unlock, and far far better than the USB dongles and their abysmal software.
Works as well as a phone will when moving - generally on trains it's OK with the odd dropout. When you're stopped, you get much more flexibility about where to put it to get the best signal.
I find it handy being able to connect several devices at the same time too. Phone and tablet or let a colleague connect etc.
and if anyone can tell me the cheapest way to get data please. At present I buy 3 month/3GB packages at £20.49. Twelve months would be a little cheaper but are there any better deals?
thanks all for the comments.
