Just how low do people have to be to steal donations made by the public to help people, and save lives.

and what happens if they were not insured, or the insurance company refuses to pay out on a techniclity, also think of the stress tyhe staff must have been under, during and after the event.

About time cam donated some money instead of wasting lots of cash killing foreigners.

I'd be the executioner if they brought back capital punishment...

not pc, but there are times when i think the only solution is a recreation of the appian way and mass crucifixition,

On the insurance thing, they may have been insured but that money doesn't just appear it has to be paid by someone. so next year when your house and car insurance are bumped up again, remember.

Yup, according to the link every flight costs Midlands Air Ambulance 2000 pounds. Every time we fire a Brimstone missile at Libya it costs three-quarters of a million pounds. In the last three months Britain has fired 150 Brimstone missiles at Libya.

20 staff and 12 grand in cash? Did they not think to lock the door?
Not that this is anything other than a despicable act, but surely some nod towards security may have prevented it?

Before you all jump down my throat I've been security for the guys filling up cashpoints at 11.45 on a saturday night, so I know whereof I speak. And they have 25-50 grand in what amounts to a briefcase.

Still bang out of order.

goodbye then.

Why/how does being dissatisfied with the situation equate with saying goodbye ?

What would you recommend? According to the article it was an armed (taser) robbery. So presumably if the door was locked they'd ring the doorbell, wait patiently for someone to open it, then pull out their weapon. And for good measure threaten someone until the money was handed over or the safe unlocked.

Some observations:

(1) They knew there was money on the premises (it doesn't sound like a "chance" robbery). Perhaps I am naive - but having worked with some big charities I wouldn't have expected to find that amount of cash on the premises on a random day (so if it was tin collection day they knew that, or if they keep large amounts of cash on site they probably had a good idea about that too).

(2) Obviously upsetting and distressing for those involved, and no the possibility that it was insured (I'd guess the excess for cash on site will be quite high) doesn't make it all right - but was that really the most atrocious thing that happened this week?

(3) Being rather cynical I bet the increased publicity from this story actually means they raise more additional funds in the next few weeks than they lost anyway. (I am not suggesting it was staged - that really would be low - but mountainbikers in the midlands needn't worry that they might need to rely on a low tech road ambulance because of this!)

this is absolutely spot on..

It amazes me on here sometimes that people just don't seem at all aware that a vast swathe of the population grow up every year with no emotional attachment whatsoever to society.. these kids view anybody outside of their immediate social circle merely as objects and targets.. cattle if you like.. to be prayed on at their leisure..

Thanks Maggie..
Luckily.. in areas where the standard of living allows, many grow out of it

My old man occasionally works next door to where this happened, he turned up just after they got away. On the other side of the AA place is a hydroponics shop that attracts all sorts of undesirables who of course don't miss a thing
