‘is this the morning room?’.

As in, somewhere to be in before noon, or where you'd display a coffin?

I've never heard of that before but it kinda makes sense if your house runs East-West, you could move to the other room to follow the sun.

I also refuse to have a telly in the bedroom.

That has nothing to do with middle class, everything to do with being Wayne and Waynetta.

Morning room is where you spend the mornings.  IE its not a reception room or a drawing room.  When I owned a house in Manchester it had 3 downstairs rooms plus a kitchen.  Sitting room, dining room and morning room

What did you do when you wanted to stand up of an afternoon?

I've just bought a Santoku knife and quickly realised I now need a Nakiri, Bunka, a Gyuto in 2 sizes, and a Sujihiki. This middle class malarkey is bloody expensive!

Stand up?  In the afternoon?   Sun was well over the yard arm by the afternoon so no standing up to be done 🙂

That's nothing to do with class surely. It's just an inevitable consequence of being over 18 years old and owning your own house...

Looks like the hedge is needing a trim. Must remember to remind my gardener.

Now that’s proper posh. When you have a special suit just for the guests to wear!

one does like to brag.

a drawing room is a reception room. a morning room is where you’d eat breakfast.

Not being able to choose the best credit card to give me free lounge access at airports…

it would be much less of a quandary to just buy the right ticket

@tomhoward

I regret not choosing the matched wine flight with my meal the other night. The one glass I did have was brilliant.

At least you didn’t have one glass then go for the flight mid starter/appetiser/amuse bouche. I've done that then spent the whole meal trying to keep up before the next glass and course arrived.

I'm torn between racing here all summer or pissing off to the alps for a couple of months

Last week, we only scored 9/15 in Thomas Eaton's Saturday magazine Guardian Quiz. Normally we can get (between us) into double figures. We're clearly sliding into early dementia

Got distracted mid booking of the  Hotel for skiing at new year. Returned to it this morning to discover that my preferred room type is no longer available.

The wife’s cast-iron bikini pan is tarnished and frankly unsightly.

Never realised that was a middle class problem.

I need to buy a new cap (misplaced my current one) as my bald bonce is getting sunburnt in the convertible. One simply can't be seen with the roof up in this weather.

Just had to walk round and round in Tesco to get challottes, feta, organic milk and a copy of the Times. Why don't they put all this stuff along with extra virgin olive oil and woodburner firelighters into a 'middle class' section like you used to get a Polish section?

If one drives with the roof up in this weather, you should have your car seized and given to a more deserving poor person. Like me.

All the families riding round on the green and blue trails at Sherwood Pines getting in my way. I didn't spend north of 8k on an e-bike and dress myself up as a power ranger to get held up by 7 year olds trying to hone their skills while I'm trying to set a new lap record. Besides, I need to get back quickly as all the shady spots in the car park were taken and my Indium Grey T6 Sportline is sat in the sun and the longer I take the hotter it gets.
