Fellow STWists, can any of you good people recommend me a nasal hair trimmer that isn’t completely and utterly bobbins? Main requirements are that it lasts longer than six months, actually trims the hair and is also capable of tackling ear hair and rampant, Kung-Fu villain eyebrow growth.

I like the look of it but fear it may not be able to cope with the job. It looks like a nice, handcrafted tool for light trimming. I’m going to need something more 🤔 industrial.

Liking Houns suggestion. Fire not good due to the whole beard thing. Tweezers Cougar? I’m not looking for some S&M good times here. Think more along the lines of ‘How would the forestry commission approach this’ my nasal hair is like a tiny, fast growing bamboo forest.

On a serious note, Phillips S3000.

I thought a trip to a Turkish barber was the STW stock answer for ear and nasal hair removal.

TiRed is correct - my use case is the same as yours, and it's at least 2 years in, now.

Do tweezers really cost 23 quid these days?

They do if you want the special hand-crafted ones. I use a cheap battery powered one I’ve had for years, but neither my nostrils nor my ears seem to produce the sort of abundant growth that requires a strimmer or flamethrower!

Thanks TiRed, I’ll give that one a go. Very irksome that I can’t grow hair on my head and can’t stop it growing from my ears, nose and eyebrows!

@cougar, sorry to disappoint you good sir.

TBH I have a pair of their tweezers for splinter pulling duties and they are good,as much as I think they are a tad expensive I don’t begrudge the price.

I er tend to use my nail scissors to trim excess nasal hair length , I had a little trimmer but tbh it wasn’t up to much and batteries and cleaning made it more farf.

Hmm since someone mentioned eyebrows do they actually serve a purpose ?

Although I must admit that I do tend to instantly notice people without them for some reason which seems weird since it’s a lack of barely noticeable hair.

This supports my theory that hair is actually the densest substance known to mankind. It's so dense that as a man gets older the hair which APPEARS to stop growing actually SINKS through the body, growing out of nostrils / ears / shoulders / back rather than the top of the head

As a pisstake I bought a cheap sunbeam trimmer for a mate when he left my workplace in 2008. He had a serious issue. He reckons he still uses it and it’s the best gift he ever had.

Definitely. I once had a colleague who lost every hair on his body through stress (we only called him 'last chicken in Tescos' when he wasn't around) and in warmer environments he had to wear a head band otherwise sweat would blind him.
Separately, he was the most alarming sight walking out of the shower in the morning.

I’m a big believer in tweezers - although it sometimes is frightening. Not the momentary pain but the occasional removal of a hair with thickness like 30 Amp fuse wire.

+1 for tweezerman tweezers... not a lot worse than half pulling out nasal hair, having it slip off and then go again...
I found the trick to lessen the pain is not to tense up, just as your about to pull them out. Easier said than done.

"surprised look"

serious answer, they keep rain and sweat out of your eyes and help with communication.

It's the length for me. I have fairly normal eyebrows, except occasionally a hair will sprut that's like an inch long.

No-one warned me this would happen as I got older. It's like a second puberty, it'll be acne next.

I know they're pricy, but they're light years ahead of the cheapo things you'd get in a manicure set. Think of getting a good knife vs a supermarket special. There's usually offers on if you're not choosy, mine are a kind of lavender colour because they were half the price of the black ones and who cares.

Right:

The middle one, as recommended by STW previously is shit unless you are an octopus. You need one hand to hold the base one hand to twuzzle the end and one hand to pull yer nose to the right shape.

The Philips 3000 are shit. Fif some reason I got 2 or 3 before I finally learned my lesson.

The Braun 9nr is by far the best design, but shitly executed. The "blade" just whirls round and round clicking against the nosehair each revolution. You can hold it completely still for 30s and it does sod all.

The Babyliss is good so far, though far too loud to use in ears. It's gif a 3 year guarantee so I'll just send it back when it stops working.

thegeneralist appears to own a nasal grooming salon! Tweezers aren’t doing the job for me. It would be like cutting a lawn with scissors. I don’t care how expensive they are, it’s still going to be a long, painful and tedious experience.

Ooh how weird is that, it let me edit the post from 2 hours ago as I already had it open in edit mode, but now of course I can't go in and correct my crap spelling.

That's because I have nostrils like the channel tunnel 🙂

There are whole forests growing in there 🙂

I use those piezo lighters n0b0dy0ftheg0 posted to burn off the hair in/on my ears and it works really well, I'm serious! Mega quick click is the key. Just enough burn time to reach the outer ear canal and job done.👍

I tried it on my nostril one time and one time only and have never repeated it.

Having a collection almost a big as thegeneralist, the only electric one I've found that does a half decent job is (in true STW fashion) a Wahl one.

https://www.wahl.co.uk/product/ear-nose-brow/

Those manual ones seem cool, but are almost impossible to actually use effectively.
