Is there a way to get files from OneDrive/SharePoint to a team in Microsoft teams without having to download?
I am stuck with the above due to gdpr so another system is not the answer.
If you can share the link they can view the documents on the internet without download. Â But, if you want physically pass them to someone you are basically copying files from one computer to another, so no.
If you're on fairly modern sharepoint (or SP online), yes.
Select the files/folders, click "Copy to" and you should see a bunch of "places" - your onedrive, teams, O365 groups, etc. Can pick the destination and it goes off and copies it all.
The "files" tab in Teams is just a sharepoint library, and the team itself is an Office 365 group.
Since a Teams space uses Sharepoint as it's file storage location in the background you can "move to" feature in Sharepoint to move them their current location on Sharepoint to their new Sharepoint location associated with the Teams space. "Move To" actually moves the content, doesn't just copy it.
Just select the folder(s)/file(s) you need to move and click "move to" and it should give you to opportunity to move the content to any locations you have access to. You probably want to consider any differences in permissions between the two locations, e.g. can everyone who accesses the files today access them in the new location or do you need to add them to the membership of the Team? And vice versa, is there anyone in the Team today that shouldn't be accessing the files once they're moved?
As above - easier if you do it all from a browser rather than the files app.
