My 2 laptops both have McAfee and Microsoft 365 on them and both subscriptions are due for renewal on 3 October - 2 days away.
I've found in the last year I really like 365 and the ability to access the same documents from anywhere. McAfee, well I dunno. I have an inkling it slows down my not-so-new Core i3 Windows 10 laptops but other than that I don't notice it.

I was surprised to find I can get a bundled copy of both from Argos for less than the renewal cost of either. Given that I've only got a couple of days to sort it, what is the current STW recommendation? Simple, please, any suggestions to hook up a Raspberry Pi or convert to Linux or Google Docs will not be considered.

That's the only function it serves.

You don't need McAfee, Windows10 has excellent antivirus built in.

As above, get the Argos 365 and ditch McAfee. Oh, and don't forget to make use of the OneDrive quota included with the former..

Yeah I always use the Argos deal and always ensure there’s one in the cupboard. I’ve had £7 for the McAfee on fleabay.

As for protecting Windows, use built in Defender, keep Windows and browsers updated and set all ‘daily’ accounts to non-admin. I also use OpenDNS as a basic web content and security filter but that’s a router config and nothing specific to Windows.

Office 365 is just a subscription so it matters not where you get it.

How often do you use Office? The online version is free.

except when it’s £40 instead of £80 from a trusted UK retailer (that’s not Arsemazon) cos it’s presumably part funded by a shoddy but optional third-party AV vendor. All Argos are selling is the 1 yr code in a little cardboard box (inefficient I know).

Vive le Argos!

OK, Argos and MCPR it is!

Thanks all. And yes I use Office quite a bit so think I'll pay for it.

McAfee. I wouldn’t even know that was still going except for my work PC using some McAfee endpoint security product that Chrome disagrees with on occasion.

Isn’t there Windows 11 now? Presumably that’s at least 1 better than 10.

Office? Makes sense to buy the cheapest renewal if you have the inclination. Must look into that next year. ~50% off isn’t to be sniffed at.

Not yet, and there's a good chance that your PC can't run it anyway.

Looks like Argos deal ended but usually quarterly. Setup an alert on HUKD.
