Yup indeed at least one of Barrowmans companies specialised in advising people on "tax loopholes". I put it in quotes because as it turned out HRMC disagreed and a large number of people had an unpleasant chat with HMRC about paying up.
Another one was investigated by the Spanish authorities and he was prosecuted but in that case the loophole held up.
The really annoying thing here is that even if HMT do get some or all of the money back these two will still end up having quite a wealthy lifestyle. Its as if once you are beyond a certain income threshold you become immune to hardship as lawyers and accountants seem to be able to duck and weave with money. More roast swan dear?

I understand the life peerage will disappear on summary conviction, to explain the quotation marks.
I don't think she can be stripped of the Baroness title without an act of parliament - last used in WW1. But she can be kicked out of the Lords (but technically still holding the title) if she is convicted and sentenced to over 12 months in prison. (that's essentially the opposite of summary conviction but thats technicalities)

What disgusts me most is this type of greed is coming from people who were already well off, were already near the top of the pile anyway (including all the various politicians that facilitated this)
I mean Mone and her disgusting husband are both bright people - he was a chartered accountant working for 3i and she was always on the grift and her companies were all mostly shite and on the con but she had energy and vision. If they had just built up a normal business, paid tax, employed people etc they would still be multi millionaires.....why do these people always go over to the dark side?
You can kind of see why a career crim born the wrong side of the tracks with no opportunities would be a wrong'un like the Krays etc but there is absolutely no excuse here.
