So after obtaining a lovely WTB Rocket V SLT Saddle and riding it once a week ago, I returned to my shed on Saturday to find a mouse had nibbled the back of it. Bit pissed as it made a bit of a mess, but its still perfectly useable. Went back Sunday to find it had nibbled a big chunk of leather right where you sit. FFS
So last night the trap was set.......
[img] [/img]
Bingo, one broken necked Yellow-neck Field mouse.
I'll be setting the trap again tonight incase he's told his mates.
Now I need to find a replacement saddle...... 😡

I'm trying to work out what you baited the trap with. Is that pizza?

Is it Nutella on bread? Middleclasstrackworld crostini?

Do I win a prize for guessing correctly?

Bottom of the class - Sorry but I don't even think that was in doubt.

We should be far more readily questioning the make and model of mouse trap... Thats a proper STW (pointless) debate.

You should have used a WTB rocket as bait...

I used some non-lethal traps for a while - they kept getting triggered but no mouse inside them. Switched to the deadly ones and the first customers were so big and fat (from my food and they weren't even paying rent!) that they'd been too large to fit in the humane traps. Obesity is a killer!

Shelagh Fogarty would probably be interested in your services.

Moronic cat Mk II brought the same mouse in 3 times yesterday.

To be honest, by the third time, I was starting to lose sympathy with the mouse. As it had managed to get caught three times by the most retarded cat in Yorkshire, I fear that it is perhaps not one of nature's "survivors".

Especially since the second time I rescued it, it put it in the shed - where the cat can't get - and it didn't even have the sense to stay there!

We have a cat who is scared of mice.

To be fair she's scared of everything but when cat number 1 releases a live mouse and it legs it across the floor, cat number 2 runs for the high ground. This is the same cat who still tries to walk straight through the patio door where a cat flap used to be, it's been gone about 5 years now. She can al;so be relied upon to behave in a very unlike-cat manner. For example, she never cleans herself and as a result stinks of shit. Her fur, which is quite long, gets matted and knotted which must cause pain. I had to pretty much shave her neck at the weekend.

Amen to that!

Now you've got to track down the rest of the family. They never nest in singles. (Unlike Jerry)

I got a humane trap when they found a way into the house.

Used to release them 5 miles away en route to work.

Caught 37 of them before I eventually found where they got in. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the same mouse returning the same day 🙂

No more visitors to the saddle last night as the baited trap has remained set. Hopefully thats the end of it now. I really dont like killing things unless its unavoidable.
