Just bought the first two series on  DVD (unopened from a charity shop I was donating stuff to, my wife was delighted I brought stuff home)

Will I be disappointed or will it be just as good as I remember it.....

having missed it the first time round (was too young & more into the A-Team 😃) I saw the other day the first season is actually available to watch free via Amazon/Freevee but have only watched the pilot 2-parter so far (where they spend a full 3 minutes driving round at night just listening to Phil Collins, great scene 😂)

I enjoyed it! Will definitely be watching more. But then I do love the 80s. And it is very 80s. Apparently only the first 2 seasons are good (Michael Mann) and it went downhill after that.

He also starred in at least one episode and his songs were in several!

This scene:

I'll get around to Miami Vice. I was too young the first time around but noticed it's available for free so I'll check it out.

The A-Team is still mostly watchable if you enjoy how daft it is. Falls off rapidly when Hannibal and B.A. refused to turn up for work and it became the Face and Murdoch show.

Knight Rider is mostly amusing but I haven't seen as much of that.

God, I loved that show.

I remember that it cost over a million dollars an episode to make which was unheard of back then and it was one of the reasons it got canned in the end.

It easy to look back and think it's cheesy but it was the absolute epitomy of style at the time. I suspect if anyone in my age group said they didn't like it they would've been laughed at.

I can hear the intro music and vid in my mind as I type this. It was just incredibly exotic from the get go.

Now? Having seen every show (I'm pretty sure) I don't think I'd go back to watch it as it would spoil the rose tinted memories I have of it. 😁

Was a teenager at the time so watched it round a mates house. Cool and unique at the time like MTV.

I loved it. Might have even worn a T shirt and jacket a few times 😁

The music was always great, and some of the filming.

This scene seemed to stick in my teenage mind.

Not a show I ever really watched, so I may investigate on Amazon.

Found a boxed set of The A Team a few years ago. Definitely better the first time around....

First couple of series are pretty good. Tubbs episodes tend to be worse than Crockett ones. We've been watching on FreeVee, I never really saw it originally - slightly too young.

Always loved MV, and have the full box set.

The thing that attracted me to it most (apart from the cars and girls (pretty much in that order, saddo that I was and am)) was the way it episodes usually end at the climax... which sounds odd to say, but loads of things have the big shoot-out with the baddy, and then have five or ten minutes winding down, tying up all the loose ends. In MV, they have the shoot-out... and roll credits. You never find out if the girl lived, if the informant escaped, if the money really was in that bag. It was kinda messy and unresolved, and felt much more "real" to me as a result, even if everything else about it was pure fantasy land.

I have the box set for a turbo session watch, loved it when it first came out and still enjoy it. The music helps, as its what I grew up with.

Jacket and t-shirt? Tick

As said above, the first couple of seasons are great but it rapidly went downhill after that. I seem to remember its nadir was when Tubbs started affecting some kind of bizarre Caribbean accent.

Apparently only the first 2 seasons are good (Michael Mann)

I was today years old when I found out Michael Mann did the TV series.

But this does explain why I like the MV movie from 2006. Always loved Mann’s work.

Watched the pilot last night (first 2 episodes)

Did not disappoint - though I think my wife liked it more than me but then she is a proper 80's girl.

Funny, I can't stand Phil Collins but somehow in MV it works

One thing is annoying - Like most people I rarely use a DVD player these day and the sound isn't properly sync'ed with the TV - will have to fiddle around with the settings.

On the whole a very good use of a fiver and it went to charitee too

I always wondered why the criminal underworld of Miami didn’t catch on the the fact that the two guys driving around in the Ferrari were cops.

Mate had the box set at sea, remember a couple of episodes, the one where they spend 5 minutes creeping around in the intro to the 12" intro to Relax and the one where Edward James Olmos goes bush with a Kitana.

Never did see the Testarossa, doesn't sound like I missed much.

Superb series.Original car was not actually a Ferrari though. I think even the engine noise was dubbed.

There is a little vid on YT I looked at a couple of nights back when this thread started. It shows a sequence with all the cars he had in the series. He had an old 50's pick up for a while after his Daytona was blown up.😁

I recently spent a few days on a caravan floor resting my back, watching daytime itv3 or 4 or something.

Managed to see a couple of episodes of Dempsey and Makepeace which is still brilliant. Also The Saint which was incredibly cheaply done. Casualty off of the 80s where the chief concerns are lack of beds and bad management.

Then the Professionals. Which is, while good, jot a patch on D&M.
