Just over 3 weeks until the 25th anniversary tour of their debut album. Corey opens the show warning the crowd there is nothing written after 1999 on the setlist. This pleases me immensely.

It’s 40 years since Sepultura started, where did that time go….nearly 30 years since my favourite album, still sounds amazing

What, Poppy? She’s great, I’d like to see her live, but she’s only doing a few dates supporting Babymetal.

As Opeth’s new album is out, here’s a track.

I've recently been enjoying a glut of black metal / hardcore / crust punk. I absolutely love Martyrdod - they sound like Tony Hawks 2 style skate punk, but with which you can burn down a church to:

See also - Oathbreaker, Wiegedood for more along these lines.

Oooh I like this. Has a slight Cursed feel to it too. I assume you know of Svalbard?

Listening to a lot of Moloch at the moment as they are playing here soon.

Only audio, I'm afraid, but anyway....

This is going to be my new weapon tackling the mouth breathers who insist on inflicting their shite taste in music or Tiktok video on me on public transport. The tactic is I deliberately sit next to them, too close, then dial up a track I like on the phone at full volume and play it while staring fixedly at them. ACDC or Motorhead have usually been the go to, but this is just great.

Yeah, I know, I'm either getting stabbed or up on an assault charge, but it's gotta be done. The barbarians are at the gates.

Was listening to Lateratus the other night, and thought this would be appropriate for the current political situation in America, and a fair few other countries at the moment.

Late entry. The algorithm threw this up last night and it's too good not to share. I'm laughing my head off every time I watch it, but it's brilliant.

Does anyone have any recommendations similar to Nine inch nails? Something on the darker side of electronic more than towards industrial metal.

Something along the lines of this would be good.

Going right back to the beginning with the original 'Walpurgis' lyrics to what then became Warpigs. The record label asked for them to be changed to get away from the occult and appeal to the more hippie audience.

Not super metal but Capstan have turned into one of my favourite bands over the last 5 years. The last album is a right mishmash of styles that takes a couple of listens to get into but I think it's a masterpiece.

@thepodge, that Discharge set at Obscene was intense,, were you there?  If not, and you've never been, you need to go.  I'm still on a high, four weeks after the fact.

I'm not entirely sure who you think I am but I've not knowingly listened to Discharge never mind seen them.

Not exactly metal, but others have posted stuff that isn’t exactly metal either, but this does have Steve Vai and Danny Carey in the band, and it’s worth watching just to see Tony Levin playing lead on a Chapman Stick.

I'm hoping for some new music from them as they're one of my all time favourite bands, to the point where I have all of their LPs framed on my walls 😀

Saw them in Glasgow once and there was only around 20 people there, was a super cool gig.

Also a big fan, seen them quite a few times, first one back in 2005.

I think they called it a day because they were tired of relentlessly touring so maybe they'll be a bit more studio based.

Here's hoping! Fingers crossed for a return to their older sludge sound too as I did find their latter albums a bit prog.

Were you a fan of Damad too, their earlier band?

Seems to be a lot of raiding late 70s/early 80s ACDC, Motorhead and Sabbath going on recently - but that's not a bad thing.

No worries.

New Deftones is good but not great.

I just got some new midi controllers so I'll be delving into making something horrible again soon hopefully.

Too true. It's why I'm not phased about seeing them on their next tour. Piece Hall gig was mega as it was their great work.

First for autumn. Is it metal? Possibly not but it's metal adjacent and I'm enjoying it right now. Who thinks that might be the same place Kirk fought the Gorn?

And if you liked that, if there's any justice this following track will be up there with Freebird and Stairway in decades to come.

That Greta track, Meeting the Master, sounds like if Yes (Jon Anderson) wrote a Led Zeppelin song. Dubious if it should be called metal, but it’s still a cracker of a song.

I was at a funeral of a cycling buddy today, entry music was Stairway to Heaven, exit was AC/DC Highway to Hell. Neither are “metal” but both summed up him to a T.

RIP Nigel.

With a healthy dollop of Rush thrown in! I think it's the best thing I've heard in the last couple of years, it's my go-to start-up track when I fire up the media player.

So many layers to Igorr these days. Great to see it all.

New Deftones is like older Deftones.... which is a welcome return for me. Not ground breaking, but solid.

I think we can sneak this in as metal. It's the track Kitty is belting out at the end of Riot Women's first episode, in the White Hart (my preferred venue for a post-ride pint in Hebden while waiting on a train home).
