You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Every time this song pops up on my Spotify playlist, I think I should post it here....
Finally remembered. Love it....and it's Monday!!
Out by a day, but anyway.... Butcher Babies:
i have had this on repeat for the last week. Absolute banger!
This popped up in my recommendations. Bollywod does metal... could do without the baldy nu-metal fella, but liking it very much nonetheless.
Metal! On a Monday!

Weirdly ambient in places.
A typically idiosyncratic cover of Radiohead's Paranoid Andriod.
I love this album but why has it taken until now to find this?!?! Love it 😂
This has been out a while but I only recently discovered it:
Some kind of involved 13/14/15 beat cycle is used to explain the structure of the piece, but the upshot is that it's an hour of Mike Scheidt playing drone chords, because THAT IS HOW LONG IT TAKES. Love it.
Did anyone see Skindred pop up on BBC Breakfast on Saturday!? 🙂
Came in to discuss their new album going straight in at No.2 on the Album Chart...

Another Imperial Triumphant cover
I'm off to see Trivium on thursday.....
Time to add another one.
Damnation Festival this weekend! Was anyone there? I wasn't sadly 😐
One from the archives, which I missed back in the day:

Another great pre-Sunn-O))) project involving Stephen O'Malley. SCRAAAANNNG, stop, SQEEEEEEAAAL guitar lines reminiscent of Khanate.
At the apex of metal Monday, internet gems and skateboarding (Fred took up skateboarding in his seventies😛):

The Closet Witch and Ragana records on this list I really enjoyed. The new Khanate, not so much. Maybe I need to revisit it?
This is my Metal for this Monday, just because it was warping my mind slightly on Friday:

Happy ‘kin Christmas!
Was expecting more corpse paint and leather spikeyness from a band called Black Moth.

Had a whiz over the Stereogum "Best Metal Albums of 2023" list the other week and found not only a bunch of records I'd missed, but also a lot of bands I'd never heard of. What a genre.
^ this is one of them, I like it a lot.
I wasn't expecting great things from a slowed down Slayer cover album & haven't listened to it all but their version of War Ensemble is very good.

Metal! Monday!

New HoF due out 4/20 (of course). I'm hopefully going to see them in Leeds in June 🙂
Off to see these fellas in May.
I've had a very enjoyable evening working through this thread. It's not monday but metal doesn't care about your rules!
Just saw Botch at the Camden Electric Ballroom.
Incredibly tight.

So much music has come out in 2024. High on Fire and DVNE, new Thou incoming, new Bongripper, new Dopethrone later this year, new Bossk (admittedly a remix record, but still), new Sumac soon. What a time to be alive!
That’s the spirit😂👍😂👍
It's metalcore but, sue me. Seeing these guys Wednesday night, looking forward to the carnage.

The breakdown on 'Lost in a wave' is savage. Starts around 2.30. You're welcome.
Haven’t been checking this thread for a while, but as I’ve managed to get a ticket for the London 02 gig in April, I feel I ought to post this…
Thou's new record came out this week. No songs over 7 minutes long, it's slightly mindblowing. Like a Thou hardcore album.

Knocked Loose heard that you liked breakdowns so they put breakdowns in the breakdowns so you can breakdown while you breakdown.
Who ordered the breakdown with extra breakdown and a side order of XL breakdown? 😂
Funnily enough I was turned on to Knocked Loose by a mate who hates metal and heavy stuff. He's a musician and producer and he's a nerd for audio and recording techniques.
He's baffled by the latest Knocked Loose album. He said people have being making heavy music for decades, everyone trying to be heavier than everyone else, and somehow that album has raised the bar for heaviness. Apparently the low end is "guttural". He also gushed about the drums or the snares or some other bollards.
I know nothing but I agree the album 'sounds' good. It's utterly savage on a big set of speakers.
It's a bit raining so let's have some funeral sludge/doom type stuff. Forn from 2014.

I may have posted the pre-release of this before, but now it's actually out!

Name another metal album which starts with the sound of geese honking
These guys have released their first album in an age. Havent lost any of their sound.
New track from Vower. Rabea’s latest project / band.
They sound pretty damn tight.
Their later material (on iTunes) sounds way more sludgey
Really ought to participate in this thread more..
On the subject of sludgey..
Re: Knocked Loose. Saw them in Birmingham when they were in the UK and, as much as I love them, I actually think their support act, Headbussa, French beatdown who I'd never heard before, actually had a better live sound.
A tribute to the late, but absolutely great Paul Di'Anno. Rock in Peace.
Saw this lot supporting Party Cannon at the Flapper in Brum a few weeks back. Definitely the wildest pit I've ever had the pleasure of whilst sober.
Mongolian Metal cover version that blows the original out of the water...
love that
Stonking. Happy Monday.
I was having a non-metal monday then I randomly found a cheap ticket for Sepultura at the Barrowlands on stubhub, so things got suddenly more metal. Obviously the whole Sepultura thing is a bit weird these days but they opened with Refuse/Resist and Territory and closed with Rattamahatta and Roots Bloody Roots and honestly how many bands can pull off a trick like that?
Oh look it's the back of my head!
Arf! I was there too, keeping a mate company while his kids disappeared, adorably, into the moshpit. First gig I've been to in years where the security guys actually had some work to do down the front.
Download have released next year's line up, if anyone fancies a muddy weekend!
Went to see Sepultura on Friday in Manchester. I was only really interested in seeing Jinjer bit all the bands were excellent.

I was so tempted to see Jinjer and Sepultura.. had to hold back on splurging out
I was at Sepultura and Jinjer! Great night out - I got a last minute ticket from a mate. Got home to discover my teenage son had spent the evening ironing his army cadet uniform, which made me feel even more rock 🙂 The drum solo/exhibition was AMAZING.
